Applications are now being accepted for FOOD SERVICE WORKER I to assist in the production, set up and serving of meals for staff and activities in accordance with established safety and sanitary regulations and procedures. This is a part-time position and does not include benefits.

S ummary Purpose of Position : To assist in the production, set up and serving of meals for students, staff and activities in accordance with established safety and sanitary
regulations and procedures.

Certification: Certified Serv-Safe Food Handler.

Sk ills: Assumes responsibility for the daily operations of an assigned unit in cooperation with the Elementary Coordinator/Food Service Director.

Job Goal: Under the direction of Elementary Coordinator and or Food Service Director, prepares attractive, nutritious meals for students and staff in accordance with the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs.

Safety
Operates Food Service equipment and utensils properly and carefully
Uses proper food safety handling procedures.
c. Wears appropriate attire for food service kitche d. Avoids unsafe practices that can result in injury. e. Follows proper lifting procedures.
Security
Assumes responsibility for the opening and closing of the operation whenthe elementary coordinator is not on site.
Assumes responsibility for all equipment under his/her areas.
Assumes responsibility for daily cash receipts and sales when the elementary coordinator is not on site.
Assumes responsibility for checking deliveries when the elementary coordinator is not on site.
Ensures all doors leading into facility of kitchen area are secure and locke
Ensures all hot units are turned off
Ensures all cold boxes are locked

Energy
Guards against waste of fuel, water, and electricity.
Supplies and Equipment
Uses old stock fir
Maintains and cleans equipment regularly.
Is careful in the use of supplies and equipment to avoid unnecessary loss or damage.
All necessary food orders as needed for the day to day operations of the food service department, kitchen, or as instructed by elementary coordinator
Maintenance and Other Duties
Assists in maintaining inventories and daily paperwork for the assignedunit.
Shall advise the Elementary Coordinator of food, supplies, equipment, repairs, and other services needed on a daily basis.
Shall be able to cook, heat, and prepare food items.
Shall assume responsibility to ensure all students are served lunches that are in agreement with the published menu.
Ensures enough foods for all students from beginning of service until the end of service
Clearly dates foods upon arrival, storage, and leftovers g. Maintains and report daily production and use records
Needs to be trained, know how to operate, and cashier on the POS system i. Shall follow safe food handling practices and maintain standards health,sanitation, and safety as required by the local or State Board of Health. j. Shall be responsible for the proper use, operation, and sanitation of allkitchen equipment.
Shall keep the work and storage area clean and sanitary in an efficient manner.
Shall display an attitude of cooperation and accommodation to all coworkers, students, faculty, and administration.
Shall perform other tasks and assumes other duties as needed or assigned by Elementary Coordinator.

M inimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED with experience working in food service preferred;must possess the temperament to work with students and adults exhibiting a wide range of emotions and have the physical ability to perform the essential duties.
  • Knowledge of necessary sanitation precautions and procedures during food prep and storage.
  • Ability to withstand having hands in water and tolerates extremes in temperatures.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and stand on quarry tile floors for up to 6 hours.
  • Possess the physical ability to perform the above responsibilities.

Other Job Duties
  • Team clean-up of all food and equipment at end of day
  • Ensure storerooms, refrigerators and freezers are secure and locked at end of shift.
  • Use of computers, cash registers and other electronic equipment used in the food service operation for food preparation, serving and storage
  • Perform other less-essential duties as needed
