Job Summary

The Family Resource Specialist will provide ongoing case management support to at least 70-80 families identified by Hennepin County MFIP as needing Family Stabilization Services (FSS) and will also assist participants in developing and achieving goals for family stability and self-sufficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The following duties are normal for this position. These duties are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.

  • Establish and maintain long-term relationships with participants through proactive and reliable service.
  • Utilize motivational interviewing and other coaching techniques that emphasize participant strengths and reinforce change behaviors.
  • Assist participants in developing goal plans for family stability and self-sufficiency.
  • Perform comprehensive assessments with participants to determine family strengths and needs.
  • Assist participants in accessing various services and resources, including affordable housing, legal and financial assistance, health services (physical, mental, chemical), child enrichment programs, and family support services.
  • Coordinate placement into supported work positions and training programs; provide retention services to participants placed into permanent employment.
  • Maintain accurate and precise case notes and documentation in paper files and online databases.
  • Monitor the progress of participants through monthly contact and data tracking systems.
  • Ability to work with a diverse and culturally diverse clientele.
  • Participate and engage in team consultations and Employment Training meetings.
  • Assist with the development and execution of on-site participant workshops and events as directed by the Program Manager.

Qualifications & Credentials Include:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below represent the required knowledge, skill, and/or ability.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Self-starter with a high level of attention to detail and follow-through
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Ability to adhere to HIPAA, ADA, and data privacy requirements
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Word and Excel
  • Ability to access and navigate online databases; Workforce One, MAXIS, and MEC2 experience a plus
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and insurance.

Minimum Technology Qualifications

  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Zoom, Teams, and online meeting platforms.
  • Ability to use office equipment including telephone and voicemail system, copier, printer, fax machine, and scanner.
  • Ability to access and navigate online databases.
  • Ability to use MS Outlook.
  • Ability to navigate the internet and electronic timecard system.
  • Ability to navigate computer networks (files, drives, and folders).

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services-related field (related experience may substitute for degree)
  • Prior experience as an MFIP Employment Counselor or equivalent is strongly preferred
  • Minimum two years of experience working with low-income families of diverse backgrounds and cultures

Salary: $20.67- $23.08 Hr., DOQ

PPL's work is now a Hybrid Model where 60% of the workweek is in the office or onsite at satellite locations. Our Hybrid Model refers to the split between working in the office (60%) and at home (40%) of the time. Over a 5-day work week, this equates to three days working in the office and the opportunity to work from home for the other two days.
