The Position(s):

The Housekeeping Aide provides cleaning services to provide a safe, sanitary, comfortable and homelike environment for residents, staff and the public. Housekeeping services provided are in accord with facility policies and procedures and consistent with state and federal laws and regulations to maintain an environment that enhances the quality of life for residents

The Laundry Aide washes, folds, sorts, stores, processes and transports laundry and linen throughout the facility so that supplies are available to meet resident needs. Laundry services are provided in accord with facility policies and procedures and in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations to enhance resident comfort and enhance the quality of life. In addition to the basic job duties, the Lead Laundry Aide is responsible for assisting in the training of new team members and performing department audits.


The Department Responsibilities:


  • Uses all equipment according to manufacturer instructions. Follow proper cleaning techniques and preventative maintenance schedules.


  • Follows facility policies and procedures for infection control at all times to maintain sanitary work and storage areas. Uses personal protective equipment when indicated. Follow facility procedures for resident belongings and living spaces that require special handling.

  • Inspects work areas for evidence of rodents or pests, safety, fire hazards, housekeeping and maintenance problems. Corrects problems and/or reports problems promptly to the Director or Team Lead.

  • Communicates with the Director or Team Lead throughout the shift as needed to best meet the needs of residents.

  • Assists the department with preparation for state inspections.


The Qualifications:

1. Be 16 years of age or older (required). If in high school, must have a work permit or ability to obtain one.

2. Long Term Care setting experience (preferred)

3. Prior housekeeping and/or laundry experience in an industrial setting (preferred)

4. Sufficient education to demonstrate functional literacy (required)
