Engineering Technician l
Purpose:
- Valkyrie Enterprises has an immediate need for an Engineering Technician l who will be a key support to assembling, installing equipment or parts requiring basic mechanical, electrical, wiring, soldering, or connecting skills or performing computer maintenance and operations.
- This position is located in Camarillo, CA.
Job Description:
- Build US Naval switchboards, switches for the switchboards following IAW detailed drawings and specifications.
- Review project instructions and blueprints to ascertain specifications, material requirements, procedures, objectives, test equipment safety requirements, nature of technical problem and possible solutions such as parts redesign, substitution of material or parts, or rearrangement of parts or subassemblies.
- Assist the customer with inspection and repair of switches and switchboards including wiring and cabling on US Naval ships.
- Operate and adjust mechanical and electrical equipment and simple test equipment, record test data.
- Perform customer support activities involving installation, modification and repair of equipment and systems.
- Required to operating hand tools such as wire crimpers, soldering irons, etc. and be able to operate a forklift.
- Follow established policies and procedures to ensure proper working order.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, recognize problem through troubleshooting and find solutions.
- Under close supervision performs routine tasks.
Qualifications:
- Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent and appropriate Trade School or related Armed Forces School or at least 3 years' of related experience as a technician.
- Must have experience in operating hand tools such as wire crimpers, soldering irons, etc.
- Must have a valid US Driver's License.
Desired
Qualifications:
- Prefer experience in inspection and repair of switches and switchboards including wiring and cabling on US Naval ships.
- Prefer experience in reading blueprints, procedures, and test equipment safety requirements.
- Prefer a Certified Naval Electrical Apprentice.
Security Requirements:
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance to access military facilities, naval shipyards, private shipyards and naval installations.
Travel Requirements:
- Moderate Travel Required; 50% or less.
- If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Physical Requirements:
- Repetitive motion, Climbing, Balancing, Stooping, Kneeling, Crouching, Crawling, Reaching, Standing, Walking, Pushing, Pulling, Lifting, Picking, Grasping, Talking, Hearing, and Visual Acuity (depth perception).
- Subject to outside environmental conditions (extreme cold/heat), subject to noise, vibration, hazards, atmospheric conditions (affect the respiratory system), frequently work in close quarters and/or function in narrow aisles or passageways (areas that could cause claustrophobia).
