ABOUT THE POSITION

The Energy Technology Leader is responsible for establishing, guiding, directing, driving, and overseeing VHB’s Energy Technology program throughout our current and targeted footprint in a manner consistent with VHB’s Strategic Plan and OneVHB. The Energy Technology Leader will partner with the Energy Market Leader, Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Director of Technology Enablement, Regional Energy Market Leaders, and the Corporate Market Technology Leaders in outlining VHB’s strategic approach, identifying a roadmap for successful growth, evaluating performance, developing strategic planning, and assessing new business ventures within each of the regions VHB operates in and provides services to.

Responsibilities:
  • Drives strategic growth and both develops and directs execution of VHB’s Energy Technology program, working with the Energy Market Leader, CTO, Director of Technology Enablement, Regional Energy Market Leaders, Smart Communities Leader, Corporate and Regional Market / Service Leaders (ML’s/SL’s), Regional Managers (RM’s), and Technology Enabled Leads to bring the most innovative approaches to solving our energy clients’ technology needs.
  • Provides project executive oversight on the Energy Technology program that maintains clear scoping and financially viable deliverables for short-term and long-term strategy development.
  • In collaboration with Service Leads and Technology Enabled Leads, identifies, develops, recruits and mentors VHB’s future leaders with a focus on operational technology integration, including those with strong business development and client relationship expertise.
  • Conducts market research and understands the latest trends within the Power Delivery & Generation and Renewables & Alternative Energies market(s). Collaborates with Market Leaders, Technology Enabled Leads and Regional Leaders to build and maintain market knowledge to assist the CTO in making appropriate investment and prioritization decisions.
  • Evaluates strategic initiatives and provides guidance to Energy Market Leader, CTO, Director of Technology Enablement, RM’s, ML / SL as to their alignment with the overall corporate and regional strategies. Develops the vision for VHB in the coming years to achieve a strategic position to our energy client’s and initiatives.
  • Provides technical knowledge and overall management of VHB’s Energy Technology program that ranges from planning, design, implementation, operations, and maintenance.
  • Understands and assess the current Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) for staff resources provided by VHB. Understand and rate our current capabilities by office and region to allow an objective opinion on how best to leverage/augment the current skill base. Collaboratively bring together Energy-focused practitioners from around the company in a cohesive manner to realize a unified corporate vision.
  • Manage VHB’s external visibility, branding and promotional efforts related to VHB’s Energy Technology Program. In addition, represent VHB at conferences, seminars, industry events and provides technical presentations.
  • Serves as Project Manager on major strategic pursuits and select energy projects. Lead go/no-go decisions supporting the CTO, RMs, MDs and Technology Enabled Leads.
  • Leads and directs VHB’s Energy Technology approach and organization to integrate skillsets into regions and projects; develops the approach, policies and leads the build-out of the Energy Technology center of excellence; actively manages and promotes the communities of practices around the application of technology in the Energy market.
  • Work with the RMs, MDs, and Technology Enabled Leads to identify, recruit, and acquire key and strategic personnel that align with the Technology Enabled vision. Lead and develop this dynamic, assembled team of industry professionals.
  • Supports the development and implementation of the VHB innovation program (Ignite) to drive education and raise awareness of our Energy Technology capabilities across markets, services, and regions.
  • In collaboration with the CDO, CTO, MLs / SLs and Technology Enabled Leads, develops training programs that position VHB to be forward thinking on Energy Technology
  • Partner with the CTO in the development of an outreach plan to better leverage VHB’s current client base, and augment that base based on VHB’s relationships and contacts with both public and private sector.
  • Establish and track project milestones as well as quarterly business goals.
  • Provide key client relationship and contract management.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Successful candidate will have 10+ years of relevant experience facilitating advanced energy solutions and leading the deployment and management of operational technology platforms including improving enterprise system workflows for the Power Delivery & Generation and Renewables & Alternative Energies markets (i.e., asset management, environmental monitoring systems, digital twin development, etc.)
  • Bachelors Degree in related field of study
  • Master's Degree preferred
