The Electronics Assembler & Test Technician (EATT) primary activities will be around the assembly and run-in testing of the electrical and electronic components of the BiVACOR implantable artificial heart and patient controller. Applicants must have experience with PCB Boards, Electronic Inspection & Hand Soldering.

The EATT reports to the Senior Electrical Engineer and will work closely with the engineering, quality, manufacturing, systems verification, and validation teams. The technician will support the fabrication, assembly and testing of models, equipment, fixtures, prototype, and clinical devices.

RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Read and interpret electrical and electronic circuit blueprints, diagrams, schematics and specifications.



  • Build products whilst complying to environmental controls, hygiene, procedures, and work instructions.



  • Assemble and evaluate electrical and electronic wiring and products using hand tools (such as solder) and specifications.



  • Develop assembly and test fixtures in accordance with work instructions.



  • Inspect supplier components against quality inspection documentation.



  • Test, inspect and measure finished products, components, and devices for function, operation, and accuracy to verify compliance to functional specifications according to established procedures, work instructions, and test protocols.



  • Disassemble defective parts and components and install or connect new or replacement components per established work instructions.



  • Troubleshoot, adjust or repair, and perform root cause analysis on finished products, components, or parts.



  • Provide engineers with verbal status reports.



  • Prepare documentation such as red-lined work instructions, rework instructions, assembly and test checklists, assembly records and reports on test and assembly findings – including provision of interpretive commentary and analysis as necessary



  • Assist engineers with the creation, modification, review and processing of work instructions, assembly drawings and processes, protocols, reports, records, and design change orders.



  • Work with the team and suppliers/vendors to report manufacturing issues and process improvements.



  • Maintain laboratory facilities to the company’s quality, safety and departmental policies and standards.



  • Support prototype testing assignments under general supervision of engineers.



  • Work independently to accomplish assigned tasks and responsibilities, and report progress and status of assignments to supervisor.



  • Assist quality and purchasing team with maintenance of inventory logs.


REQUIREMENTS



  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology (EET) or Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) or higher preferred.



  • Certifications in Electrical and Electronic Inspection & Hand Soldering (such as IPC-A-610, IPC-A-620)


  • 3+ years’ industry experience in assembling devices from engineering drawings and work instructions in the medical device or comparable regulated industry.



  • 3+ years’ experience with electronic analog and digital circuitry and understanding of electronic and electro-mechanical devices, electrical schematics, and mechanical system drawings and diagrams.



  • Experience working with PCB Boards required.



  • Strong debugging/troubleshooting experience using standard laboratory equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, bench-top power supplies, and signal generators.



  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.



Occasional travel may be required, up to 2 weeks per year.



Compensation Range: $ 28.00 – 34.00/hr + bonus + benefits



The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining pay, we’ll consider job location, experience, and other job-related factors.
