Description


Responsible for the advancement of the Clinical Quality Value Analysis (CQVA) program, including but not limited to clinical product review, standardization, evaluation and utilization, product quality and cost containment for clinical supplies and equipment used throughout the hospital and WHP. Provides leadership in clinical standardization issues to senior leadership and acts as a liaison to physicians nursing and other clinical staff. Works in collaboration with Infection Prevention, Clinical Risk, Quality and Clinical Engineering on applicable initiatives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Coordinates and manages assigned Clinical Quality Value Analysis (CQVA) program.


a. Proactively engages the CQVA teams, facilitates and attends meetings at least 85-94% of the time to meet
expectations and 95-100% of time to exceed expectations. Additional efforts will be assessed individually
whether they warrant far exceeding expectations.


b. Produces agenda at least 24 hours in advance of each team meeting and communicates as appropriate
before meetings to engage team members. Sending the agenda at least 24 hours in advance of the meeting
85-94% of the time will meet expectations and 95-100% of the time will exceed expectations. Additional
efforts will be assessed individually whether they warrant far exceeding expectations.


c. Works with leadership to address inconsistent member attendance. Proactively works with members and/or
leaders to identify (if necessary) alternative resources to attend the team meetings regularly. This will be
measured by observation by Manager and peer feedback.


d. Proactively identifies opportunities more appropriately handled by an adhoc team. Creates separate adhoc
teams, as appropriate, to work through specific initiatives. Measured by Manager.


2. Enhances hospital strategic initiatives and operational processes by supporting the triple aim strategy of service,
quality and cost as it relates to product selection.


a. Works effectively with and engages pertinent MM staff in CQVA initiatives, including but not limited to,
attending relevant meetings, helping to validate contract information and prepare cost analyses as required
to support a product conversion decision, as needed. Measured by direct observation by Manager.


b. Coordinates and leads the product conversion process. Assures an appropriate conversion plan is in place
and coordinates implementation to appropriate MM staff and/or Clinical Educator resource. These tasks are
completed 95-97% of time to meet expectations and 98-100% of the time to exceed expectations, as
measured through direct observation by Manager and feedback from CQVA team members and peers.


3. Develops and implements strategies and processes for reducing clinical product supply expense.


a. Utilizes high-level critical thinking skills to identify and implement a minimum of 3 independent projects for
reducing clinical product supply expense to meet expectations and 5 or more to exceed expectations as
observed by Manager and CQVA Steering Committee.


b. Works with team to assess needs, define objectives, scope and assumptions. Assesses financial impact or
time commitment and implementation time. Uses knowledge and experience to anticipate risks. Measured
through observation by Manager.


c. Collaborates with physicians, leadership and staff for CQVA through education and outreach by attending
appropriate meetings. Measured by Manager observation and peer feedback.


d. Identifies opportunities from the Mass General Brigham' Value Analysis team by reviewing the monthly spreadsheet of initiatives provided to us by Mass General Brigham. Creates and maintains an open invitation to the Mass General Brigham' Value Analysis team for all CQVA meetings at WDH. Works closely with Mass General Brigham to assist with CQVA initiatives, as needed. Measured through observation by Manager and peer feedback.


4. Maintains and communicates financial and performance measurements.


a. Tracks standardization and utilization success through measuring and continuously verifying process
improvement and cost savings. Maintains the accuracy of the CQVA savings tracker, with 98% of CQVA
initiatives posted to the report within 7 days of approval/denial to meet expectations and 100% posted
within 7 days to exceed expectations. Additional efforts will be assessed individually to determine whether far
exceeding expectations is warranted.


b. Accuracy of overall data in the savings tracker is at +/- 5% to meet expectations and +/- 2% to exceed
expectations. Additional efforts will be assessed individually whether they warrant far exceeding expectations.


c. Utilizes Savings Actualyzer tool (when appropriate) to track savings post-implementation of a CQVA initiative
and reports to the CQVA Steering Committee during monthly meetings. Measured by Manager observation.


d. Measures and provides follow-up to end users regarding compliance, when requested. Measured by review of
departmental budget reports, feedback from CQVA Steering Committee members, CQVA team leads and
Manager.


5. Demonstrates competency to perform responsibilities of role.


a. Completes assigned tasks in order of urgency and efficiently manages own workload requirements in an
acceptable timeframe. This behavior is observed by Manager and supported by customer feedback.


b. Utilizes Contract/Data Analyst as needed to provide necessary support to assist with data collection, financial
impact and/or other data analytics.


c. Utilizes available resources, including but not limited to peer relationships from other hospitals within or
outside of the Mass General Brigham' networks. Completes the majority of tasks independently that are aligned with
hospital policies and procedures. This behavior is observed by Manager and supported by team feedback.


d. At the request of Management, is willing to provide support and backup coverage to staff, as needed to
support organizational needs.


Qualifications


Experience Minimum Required

  • Five years progressive experience with value analysis, supply chain management or product sales.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal, analytical, facilitation and presentation skills, strong organizational skills and a self-starter.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and attention-to-detail using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

Education Minimum Required

  • Bachelor's Degree

Education Preferred/Desired

  • Certified Materials and Resource Professional (CMRP)
