Hourly range for RSAM Registered Nurses (12+ months experience) $37.24 - $57.91 / hour

  • Evening Shift Differential- $2.55 / hour
  • Night Shift Differential- $3.40 / hour
  • Day Shift Weekend Differential- $1.75 / hour
  • Evening Shift Weekend Differential- $4.30 / hour
  • Night Shift Weekend Differential- $5.15 / hour
  • Charge Nurse Differential- $1.00 / hour

Responsibilities*

  • Identify and access the needs of the Cath lab staff for orientation and in-service programs.
  • Investigate, design, and implement competency-based orientation/evaluation.
  • Coordinate, collaborate, with and support Educational/Research Council the development and implementation of in-service and staff development programs for CPU staff.
  • Evaluate and modify orientation based on clinical outcomes and cost effectiveness.
  • Coordinate and monitor Cath lab staff regarding mandatory hospital competencies and mandatory in-service attendance.
  • Provide consultation in clinical expertise to Cath lab staff.
  • Assist in the development and acquisition of unit resource materials.
  • Promote attendance at continuing education programs and involvement in professional organization activities by unit staff.
  • Provide patient care to maintain clinical competence, act as a role model, and assist in monitoring unit practices.
  • Assist in the maintenance of nursing practice standards.
  • Participate in the development of procedures, protocols, and guidelines for the CPU.
  • Coordinate performance improvement programs activities.
  • Provide consultation and clinical expertise to other departments on electrophysiology nursing care.
  • Provide and coordinate continued educational (CE) opportunities to Cath lab staff including annual nursing Blitz.
  • Promote use of and embed evidence-based practice, involving nursing sensitive indicators.
  • Provide consultation to other institutional committees (CPOE, Ed coordinator).
  • Develop and coordinate off-shift clinical resources.
  • Encourage and coordinate abstract and poster creation for UHMS and national organizations.
  • Facilitate support of clinical experts through the nursing framework.
  • Facilitate monthly clinical practice meetings with Cath nursing staff

Salary & Nursing Framework Level:
This UMPNC RN posting is posted under the Role-Specific Advancement Model (RSAM) as:
ENC- COMPETENT.
Actual RSAM LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.
RSAM levels range from ENC-COMPETENT to ENC-EXPERT TO ENC-MASTERY

Required qualifications must be met by the candidate in order to be interviewed and considered for the position.

Required Qualifications*

  • Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of Michigan.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or related field.
  • Five or more years of recent Cath lab clinical nursing is necessary (within last 3 years)
  • Ability to maintain clinical competency in the Cath lab. 50% or greater effort will be staffing in the Cath lab.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Characteristics include excellent clinical skills, demonstrated excellent communication skills with all staff/patients/families, flexible, approachable, creative, detail oriented, lifelong learner, demonstrated ability to problem solve, team player, demonstrated ability to build trusting relationships.
  • Possess advanced computer skills. Fluent in Microsoft Office (word, excel, power point, publisher), adobe, photo shop, CareLink, care web.
  • Demonstrated understanding of hospital organization and processes.
  • Experience in teaching, writing objectives and program planning.
  • Active membership in professional specialty organization on local, state, and national level is desirable.
  • Publications and presentations in cardiology care are desirable.
  • Certification in specialty.

Work Schedule

Hours- 36hours/wk
Shift- Day Shift. On call commitment is required.
50% or greater effort will be staffing in the Cath lab.
Location: Cardiovascular Center -Cardiac Procedures Unit


All new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census.
