TTM Technologies’ Aerospace and Defense unit is a leading global designer and manufacturer of high frequency RF and microwave microelectronics, components, and assemblies for high precision, high reliability aerospace, defense, and space applications.
Scope:
The Director will lead our Quality and Compliance department, company Quality Management System (QMS), and quality assurance disciplines and culture throughout the organization. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in managing Quality Management Systems to ensure compliance to ISO9001, AS9100 and other supporting standards. Co-leading with Program Managers and TTM project teams in the planning, execution, and flow down of all customer specifications and contractual requirements, as well as working directly with our customers, is critical to the success of this role.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • To maintain, improve, monitor and report to management on Quality System fully supporting ISO 9001, AS9100, MIL-PRF-38534, MIL-PRF-38535 and MIL-STD-883 and related industry essential specifications
  • Ensure quality training is conducted to meet business needs. Establish requirements for implementation of a Quality Information Systems to drive improvement. Through failure analysis, customer surveys and corrective actions, work with Engineering and Program Office to achieve 100% customer satisfaction
  • Successfully implement corporate quality policies and quality management systems in the context of building an end-to-end framework for measuring and improving quality across all operations
  • Direct and conduct internal quality system and product audits to ensure compliance to quality system requirements and product specifications. Support and interface with independent auditors performing certification and compliance audits (ISO, AS and Customer)
  • Establish and coordinate requirements for the quality information systems and reports to include cost of quality, defects, supplier quality reliability, customer complaints, first pass yield rates, and others as appropriate; ensure that the information is consistent and valid, and is used to drive quality improvement
  • Assist in identifying quality training needs relative to technical skill levels and trends in quality measurements, and establish programs to meet these and other training needs of the organization
  • Conduct regular visits to major customers to review TTM quality performance, present failure analysis, and communicate root cause corrective actions. Develop and follow-up on corrective actions, communicating and working with the Operations Management Team, Engineering, Program Office and the customer where appropriate. Track customer quality problems to complete resolution
  • Co-lead, with program managers, TTM project teams in the planning, execution, and flow down of all customer specifications and contractual requirements
  • Interface directly with customers in requirement negotiations and reviews
  • Assess and manage the quality system elements of TTM’s contract review process
  • Lead robust Root Cause Corrective Actions (RCCA) for customer related issues.
  • Lead the MRB and Change Management processes as the ”Voice of the Customer”
  • Develop, compile, and communicate metrics and improvement plans
  • Identify, communicate, and lead large scope improvement projects
  • Take personal ownership of internal and external customer issues and follow through to ensure a lasting service impression of responsiveness and commitment
  • Comply with and support company policies and programs regarding safety, security, ISO, EEO, OSHA and the Code of Ethics and Business Conduct
Essential Knowledge & Skills:
  • Full understanding of ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality system standards is essential
  • Familiarity with MIL-PRF-38534, MIL-PRF-38535 and MIL-STD-883 is desired
  • Good oral and written communication skills are essential
  • Excellent human relations skills are needed to influence and motivate at all levels in the organization
  • Technical literacy, problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • In depth knowledge of quality systems, policies and procedures and the ability to apply that knowledge towards the interpretation of customer requirements
  • In depth experience working with defense industry quality requirements (i.e., DFARs, FAI, AS9100, ISO9001, DPA)
  • Broad knowledge of statistics and statistical process control
  • Diverse knowledge of inspection control methods, techniques, and standards
  • Familiar with continuous improvement initiatives such as 5S, Standardized Work, Kanban, JIT, Kaizen, and Poke-Yoke
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and achieve results through others
  • Capable of developing and executing effective plans; identifying obstacles and countermeasures as well as communicating effectively to achieve individual and group goals
  • Able to effectively prioritize, multitask and communicate actions and timing to closure.
  • Excellent computer skills, specifically Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proficient and structured problem solving and effectively leading others in root cause corrective action analysis
Education & Experience:
Required Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering
Required Work Experience: 6 - 8 years of relevant experience
Export Statement:
a) Must comply with TTM Export Control Policies and Procedures and all applicable laws including ITAR, EAR and OFAC. b) Ensure compliance with the Corporate Export policies through implementation and enforcement of these procedures at the plant level. c) Provide training, assistance and support to all departments to ensure policy compliance. d) Conduct periodic audits as required. e) Prepare and submit ITAR and EAR license application documentation as required. f) Provide feedback to Corporate Export Compliance Office for continuous improvement of procedures and overall Export Compliance program.
