Job Summary:

The Director of M&E Production will direct the production, environment, and culture of the M&E shops to ensure financial, quality, safety, and efficiency goals are met.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
These include the following and others may be assigned.

  • Meet or exceed the expectations of our customers by providing a positive customer experience.
  • Effectively direct and manage the team for high performance and morale.
  • Effectively plan work orders for multiple, simultaneous projects and schedule clear completion dates, acting as liaison between sales, customer service, and production.
  • Mentor and work with the Shop Supervisor and associates to ensure the fabrication of products consistently meets production, performance, quality and other standards by set deadlines.
  • Participate in annual budget planning and create and manage reports to ensure KPI goals are met.
  • Ensure a safe, secure, and clean work environment.
  • Clearly define each role on the team for optimal operations. Set clear performance expectations, goals, and guidelines then provide the training, resources, support, and performance management needed to meet them.
  • Strategically manage short and long-term resource allocation, equipment purchases, maintenance, and layout and ensure optimal Overall Equipment Effectiveness.
  • Drive improvements in reliability for key aspects of machinery by completing reliability studies and identifying best planned maintenance strategy.
  • Manage the time and cost of production while continually finding and implementing continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain efficient systems, processes, policies, and SOPs to support the growth of the business.
  • Work cross-functionally with key stakeholders to meet all production and corporate goals and objectives.
  • Work cross-functionally to determine customer and market needs and opportunities and find creative ways to meet those needs and grow the business.
  • Evaluate the challenges faced by the business and take action to mitigate risks and develop opportunities.
  • Mentor and develop staff for retention, efficiency, and succession planning.
  • Keep up-to-date on related trends, products, and information.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Work safely.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to hiring and retention, performance management, and training and development.


  • Directly supervises the M&E Supervisor

  • Indirectly supervises all M&E production associates.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • High energy, organized, and flexible with the ability to manage multiple tasks and ever-changing priorities in a fast-paced, multi-project, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Company and shop policies and procedures.
  • Ability to set, communicate, and accomplish through others long and short-term goals.
  • Strong business acumen and knowledge of Company products and their applications.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing/fabrication/production concepts, including but not limited to OEE and lean manufacturing.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and other job-related computer programs and software.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and other applicable safety regulations.
  • Effective leadership, management, interpersonal, communication, customer service, negotiation, problem solving, resourcefulness, creativeness, planning, time management, organizational, judgement, and stress management skills.
  • Maintain professional image as a representative of the company.
  • Availability and willingness to travel between Company locations as well as to customer facilities, job sites, or other locations as needed.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide with or without using a calculator.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a four-year college or technical school; or
  • Ten years of fabrication shop experience with many different materials, with a minimum of 3 years of experience successfully leading and managing a team; or
  • Equivalent combination of experience and education.

Certifications and/or Licenses:

  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
