We are looking for a Director of Print Production to join our Small Format team. In this role, you will ensure the efficient and effective functional management of operations occurs on the production floor as it relates to the creation of banners, point of sale displays, and other printed materials in accordance to the specifications noted on the job ticket within the parameters, colors, and material stock as defined. The Director of Print Production’s role is responsible for resolving elevated customer issues as it relates to the timely completion of the printed materials within the quality standards specified, elevated vendor issues as it relates to the timeliness and quality and costs of material received, and is expected to focus on cost control and labor productivity to maximize TBG’s profitability. This role is also expected to keep abreast of new technology as it relates to new cutting and printing device while ensuring all activities are completed in accordance with ISO standards 14001, Environmental Management System, and collaborates and partners with other areas of the production area in addition to project management and account management supporting TBG’s clients.

A variety of these traits will help land you this job. If you have:

  • a Bachelor’s degree in Commercial Art or related field or 8+ years of equivalent work experience with a two-year technical or trade school diploma
  • 5 or more years of relevant management experience working in print production n a high, volume manufacturing environment

On top of that you must:

In this position, you will:

  • lead, mentor, coach, and directs production leaders to meet TBG’s customers’ requirements and expectations around quality, standards and SOP’s, efficiencies, and timelines.
  • achieve a high level of employee efficiency, engagement, and morale through leadership and the use of sound management relative to handling personnel issues/concerns specific to the employees’ work environment.
  • ensure TBG’s safety standards and protocols are met in accordance with policy and OSHA.
  • collaborate with master schedulers and planners to ensure proper resources are available to meet the customers’ expected schedules.
  • ensure all staff within the production (print) area are trained on the proper use of the equipment and have the opportunity to learn additional responsibilities as needed.
  • work with Production Managers and Production Leads in overseeing the proper recording of labor hours and costs, reviews variances, and discusses the impact variances have on the Cost of Goods Sold and gross margin of TBG’s income statement.
  • maintain an inventory system of all pressrooms related materials and supplies and reviews periodic audit results to the perpetual inventory system noting variances and determining root cause.
  • communicate regularly with other departmental Directors and staff regarding departmental issues, procedural changes, company/departmental goals & results, etc.
  • keeps abreast of technical developments that may affect press efficiency and profitability.
  • advise other business unit staff members (e.g. Sales, Estimators, Schedulers), as part of a cross-functional team, on the capabilities of the production area and current capacity of the pressroom.
  • champion and creatively implements continuous improvement techniques and manufacturing best practices to increase production efficiency at the lowest cost possible while simultaneously driving uncompromising product quality and employee satisfaction.
  • maintain a preventative maintenance schedule to ensure all equipment is at its peak performance. With this address any concerns with maintenance and the staff to help resolve any issues that come up between preventative care.
  • perform miscellaneous projects and complete various tasks as requested by others in management.
