Program Summary

Dubuque Y Crisis Services offers round the clock 24/7 365 services to meet the various safety needs of survivors of
violence. Our Crisis Line, Emergency Shelter and Extended Stay services provide immediate and critical interventions, with our overall goal to increase survivor safety. Our service provision is built around providing quality, client centered, trauma informed services that promote self-sufficiency and increase successful outcomes for survivor’s unique, individualized needs. DYCS prioritizes women and children experiencing various types of gender based violence such as Domestic Violence / Intimate Partner Violence, Sexual Assault, Human Trafficking and Other Violent Crimes.
Job Functions and Responsibilities

The Crisis Services Coordinator position provides leadership and oversight to the 5 key components of the Dubuque Y Crisis Services program.

Service Operations – Responsible for oversight of day to day operations of DYCS services.

  • Provide management and oversight in comprehensive, trauma-informed, survivor-centered services that drive

successful interventions. Services consist of but are not limited to the following; crisis line coverage, crisisinterventions, performing shelter assessments/ screenings, safety planning, emotional support, assessment ofservice needs, intake and exit procedures and information and referral to community resources.Service Training

– Provides direct guidance to DYCS staff and internship placements to ensure optimal service provision.

  • Primary support to both interns and advocates in onboarding and service provision in a manner that ensures the highest level of services are provided. Ensure the DYCS service model is upheld in the following areas; ICADV standards, case management, survivor education on victim’s rights, survivor resources, emotional support, DYCS systems and policies, as well as building and operational expectations.

Data Management – Track, monitor and assist with reporting measures within DYCS data systems.

  • Closely monitors and audits data accuracy, timeliness and completion for residential intakes, exits and service

interactions in the Empower DB database. Maintains requirements of programmatic data with a high level ofaccuracy that meets timeliness requirements.Facility Management

- Ensures facility is properly equipped to meet the needs of shelter residents.

  • Oversees the completion of assigned shift duties that contribute to daily operations of organizing, stocking/

replenishing supplies, resetting vacant rooms, conducting shelter walk-through’s, room checks, accepting anddistributing donations, maintaining general cleanliness and security procedures while assuring necessary supplies are furnished. Coordinates with YMCA/YWCA maintenance team to efficiently address facility or equipment malfunctions.Coordination of Activities

– Coordinates various areas of communication, guidance, evaluation and leadership.

  • Guides effective communication and on site leadership to staff and shelter residents. Continually evaluates and

elevates operational insufficiencies to alleviate day to day issues as they arise. Assists with scheduling of staff,volunteers, interns, community partner meetings and support group activities.Skills and Abilities

Must demonstrate the ability to execute the following:

  • Must be highly dependable and have the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment in decision making and has a solution focused attitude toward problem solving.
  • Has high emotional intelligence along with the capacity to diffuse elevated situations.
  • A self-starter with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, delegate and the foresight to determine programmatic needs and deficiencies.
  • Possess strong leadership, able to handle difficult situations with professionalism and maturity while elevating

situations that need guidance.

  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills, as well as intermediate computer skills.
  • Can work in an environment that requires the ability to transfer/ carry cleaning and bedding supplies up and down stairs and packages weighing at least 25 pounds.
  • Ability to pass state, federal, and child abuse background checks and able to work in the United States.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred) in Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, or a related field or a minimum of

2-4 years of field experience in a similar role with managerial experience.

  • Training or experience working with survivor populations with a thorough understanding of the issues

surrounding victimization as it relates to survivor based services or other individuals in underserved, underrepresented and/or marginalized populations with a thorough understanding of systemic barriers the identified population faces.
