POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Dietary Technician Department: Dietary

Classification: Non-Exempt/Hourly/Safety Sensitive Position

Position Supervises: None

Reports To: Lead Dietary Tech/Director/Asst. Director

POSITION PURPOSE

Prepares and delivers meals and snacks to each treatment room at designated times.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & BASIC DUTIES

1. Prepares breakfast, lunch and snacks daily. Delivers meals to each treatment room.

2. Washes all dishes and/or utensils used during food preparation.

3. Keeps kitchen and break room, including appliances, neat and clean.

4. Cleans and defrosts refrigerators (including break room) as needed.

5. Keeps accurate records and completes daily production reports daily.

6. Keeps accurate temperature logs on refrigerator(s) in kitchen and/or break room daily.

7. Ensures that employee food items are not in the refrigerator used to refrigerate patient food.

8. Places orders with designated vendor(s) and stocks orders when received. Labels any and all food items with date received before stocking. Keeps inventory of all items stocked.

9. Delivers menus to each treatment room. Posts monthly menu on Parent Board.

10. Wears hair net any time food is being prepared and ensures that any staff entering the kitchen during preparation of food is also wearing a hair net. Wears gloves any time handling food.

11. Keeps kitchen door locked at all times.

12. Substitutes in treatment room as needed.

13. Completes relevant and approved in-service trainings per fiscal year as required by CCL and USDA standards.

14. Works with clinic USDA designee with any matters related to tracking, billing, compliance.

15. May perform other related and non-related duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/ Certification:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience/ Knowledge required:

  • Minimum of one year of successful experience in a similar position.

Skills/ Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a wide variety of people.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a very busy environment.
  • Ability to work with children between the ages of birth to 18 who are at risk.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $13.00 - $14.50 per hour
