Summary:
Responsible for the day-to-day coordination of services within the Wenatchee area Radiology Service Line departments to include Interventional Radiologists. Is responsible for promoting efficient quality patient care in the department. Plans, organizes, and direct department activity. Assists with supervisory on call responsibilities. Works closely with the Manager/Director on department activities both clinical and non-clinical. Serves as a resource, educator, and role model to aid in achievement of high-quality care for our patients. The supervisor works with the leadership team to ensure staff orientation, education, development, and evaluations are completed. Drives both staff and patient satisfaction. Plays a key role in optimizing the use of resources. Provides direct patient care as needed. This position requires a high level of customer service skills to establish and enhance positive relationships with patients, co-workers, and others.

Essential Functions:
  • Coordinates and prioritizes the efficient operation of the daily workflow, technologist staffing, radiologist coordination, patient throughput, and department/image quality. Meet with radiologist/physicians/leads at start of shift and/or as needed to coordinate multi-modality procedures and/or procedure room assignments.
  • Participates with the Manager/Director to create and implement an operational budget annually monitoring performance monthly.
  • This position is responsible for leading, coaching, mentoring, and modeling Service Excellence behaviors to Lead Technologists and staff. Updates staff on accepted standards, and monitors compliance by staff.
  • Assist Manager with updating Radiology Service Line specific policies, writing new policies as needed.
  • Responsible with the Manager for hiring and overseeing orientation of new employees.
  • Provides teaching and skill development through one-on-one interaction with staff. Supervises new staff during the orientation process. Ensures that the proper staff is assigned to procedures based on competencies that match the job/procedure.
  • Performs HR functions in conjunction with the Manager to include evaluations, counseling, disciplinary actions, and staff monitoring.
  • Assists in daily operations of the department, including but not limited to timecard editing and approvals, following up with patient and family concerns/complaints, researches and resolves events as assigned, coding and billing edits as needed.
  • Collaborates with the Manager/Director to determine staffing needs for the department, creating work schedules, including on-call, and time off requests. Provides break and lunch relief when needed.
  • Assists Clinical Student Instructor with direct training and supervision of student technologists. If no Clinical Student Instructor assigned, will assume duties as Clinical Student Instructor.
  • Participates in improvement projects focused on achievement of annual goals to include Trauma Advisory Board, Stroke Advisory Board, Critical Finding reports, and other projects as assigned.
  • Provides a safe environment by monitoring radiation exposure to staff and patients. Assists with occupational radiation dose monitoring, including but not limited to dosimeter assignments, education, quality review and radiation safety. Attends and provides input in Radiation Safety Committee meetings.
  • Ensures adherence to professional standards, policies, procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and DNV standards. Complies with all continuing education requirements as dictated by regulatory entities.
  • Required to maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

Qualifications:
Required:
  • Associate degree in Radiologic Technology from an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • ARRT registered as a Radiologic Technologist.
  • Washington State Radiologic Technologist Certification (RT) license.
  • 4 years relevant experience.
Desired:
  • Previous supervisory experience in a healthcare setting.

Working Conditions:
  • Exposure to ionizing radiation, infectious diseases, blood, and other body substances. Required to wear appropriate protective clothing to include lead or lead equivalent attire when performing procedure that provide exposure. Assists in lifting patients and places them in appropriate positions with the use of safe patient handling equipment. Requires manual and finger dexterity, eye-hand coordination, and depth perception for operation of equipment.
