Description:
SRM Entry Operator shall operate in the functions with supplying SRM mill with slitted coil material for the continuous operation of the mill in accordance with plant policies and procedures. He/she will ensure a safe and compliant operation during his/her shift.

Working Conditions:
Working conditions are the same as the conditions provided in the pipe manufacturing industry. Working environment temperature is in parallel with weather conditions. It requires working in dusty, noisy, and greasy environments. Work involves lifting, pulling and/or pushing of materials and product up to 50 pounds, and standing and walking considerable distances. Operation requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protection, work boots, and hardhats. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.

1. Qualifications:
1.1. A High School diploma or GED equivalent and 1-year experience with MIG/MAG welding preferred.

1.2. Experience in a Pipe Mill operation required.

1.3. Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.

1.4. Experience in Shielded Metal Arc Welding (Stick Welding) and grinding.

1.5. Ability to use measuring tools (caliper, measuring tape).

1.6. Manual dexterity required for operating, machinery, hand tools and handheld technical devices.

1.7. Knowledge of the manufacturing processes, procedures, and steel material information are a plus.

1.8. Employee must be able to work with a flexible schedule which may require over-time and weekends.

2. Responsibilities:
2.1. Entry Operator is required to check slitted coils for proper heat numbers and load slitted coils.

2.2. Controlling/managing the slitted coil stock area and adjusting the slitted coil to be fed to SRM pipe mill.

2.3. Check that all machinery is properly serviced before starting up. She/He reports any error they detect to their supervisor.

2.4. This position will be a back-up for the Secondary Welder when required.

2.5. Check all the welding gases before the start of the shift.

2.6. Check the coil alignment, gap between the strips, and ensure the welder is in a straight line.

2.7. Number the coils in sequence after the welding operation.

2.8. Ensure to paint with spray paint in the strip for identifying butt weld.

2.9. Check all the welding parameters, filler wire, automatic welder, and other machinery before starting the shift and after size changes.

2.10. Make sure the slitted coil is the correct wall thickness, width, work order, and measure.

2.11. Assist in repair and replacement of equipment during maintenance shutdowns.

2.12. Communicating to Slitter Operator any problems with material and equipment.

2.13. Produce good quality welds.

2.14. Remove rough spots, chop, or grind off excess weld, slag or spatter using portable grinders.

2.15. Operation monitoring, watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a

machine is working properly.

2.16. Inspect cables or grappling devices for wear and tear.

2.17. Perform a visual inspection before the beginning of the shift and report any issues to Supervisor.

2.18. Determine load weights and check them against lifting capacities to prevent overload.

2.19. Load or unload slit coils from slitter to entry, using 35-ton crane equipment.

2.20. Assist the Entry Helper in all their responsibilities and perform his/her duties when required.

2.21. Employee must follow all PPE policies and safety rules.

2.22. Employee must follow the 5S implementation procedure.

3. Activities:
3.1. Employee must report to his/her immediate supervisor for briefing on daily tasks.

3.2. Provide and assist with maintenance on the equipment he/she is operating.

3.3. Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.

3.4. Keep the working environment clean and tidy

3.5. Assist in the verification of work orders in the MES.

3.6. Assists in repair and replacement of equipment during maintenance shutdowns.

3.7. This position requires operating Forklift and Overhead Crane.

3.8. Communicate with crew to achieve a quality product.

3.9. Sending the steel straps from the coils to the waste area.

3.10. Other duties as assigned.

4. Authority and Obligation:
4.1. This position has the authority to stop the Entry operation if he/she deems it necessary, for reasons of possible equipment damage.
