We are looking for a talented Current Product Improvement Controls Tech Spec to join our team specializing in Engineering for our New Power Business Unit in Columbus, IN / your remote home office.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • You will have involvement in specification, design, implementation, testing and/or release of software that controls the operation of Cummins’ products in a variety of customer applications.
  • You will Investigate embedded software problems, understands causal mechanisms, recommends appropriate action, owns problem resolution and documents results.
  • Applies and improves embedded software development processes and tools. (including model based development, coding, compiling and test. Including tools: Simulink, code editors, integration tools, static analysis tools, compilers and hardware in the loop test tools.)
  • Obtains input and negotiates with product and software development teams and delivers verified software features, components, builds to product teams.
  • Makes decisions in the areas of software requirements, architecture, design, implementation and test that impact the quality and performance of software subsystems and feature classes.
  • Responsible for review of less-experienced developers/testers’ work to ensure robust, reusable, and efficient designs.

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Prior Senior or Lead Engineer equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making.
  • This role will work with customer engineering team, service team to understand customer controls feature need. Work with VPI team, application software team to understand available new feature improvements.
  • Participate in electrical vehicle controls algorithms/diagnostics strategy discussion, make decisions on which feature improvement to include for current product customer.
  • Coordinate with controls software implementation team, system integration team to deliver controls feature and improvements, work with test team and support vehicle validation.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Engineering or appropriate STEM field is required.

Post-graduate (Master's) degree relevant to this discipline area may be required for select roles.

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience

BS or MS in Electrical, Mechanical, or similar engineering education background

3-5 years of experience with embedded controls development, calibration management, vehicle, test cell testing/validation 2-3 years of experience with Matlab/Simulink, model based controls design

Comfortable in managing deliverables requiring support from cross functional teams

Experience with Calterm, CalbertNG, Canalyzer, C2ST, SPEED is a plus

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
