We are currently seeking a Cost Accountant for an exciting, newly developed role at our facility just north of the airport in Eugene, Oregon.

Cost Accountant

The position performs a variety of complex duties in general accounting such as the oversight, tracking, and posting of inventory movements throughout the manufacturing process, analyzing accounts, preparing reports, assisting with the monthly financial close, and other Divisional accounting and reporting responsibilities as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitors, tracks, and posts inventory movements through the manufacturing process from raw materials to finished goods.
  • Tracks and reports deviations from standard manufacturing overhead costs against actual manufacturing costs
  • Analyze Non conformance records in ERP, co-ordination with vendors to recover costs and make necessary adjustment in ERP.
  • Monitors and reports on deviations of expected scrap rates versus actual scraps rates and determines causes.
  • Analyze and recommend costs and cost savings.
  • Supports and leads regular cycle counting and physical inventory to ensure accurate recording of inventory on-hand in the ERP system. Works with Inventory Specialist to verify physical counts are accurate.
  • Responsible for inventory ID maintenance including setup of new inventory ID's with accurate GL accounts, unit conversions, and kit components with communication to sales office and quality.
  • Determines proper coding and lives of assets placed in-service to adhere to the corporate fixed asset policies.
  • Supports month-end and year-end close process.
  • Supports group controller with reconciliation of accounts and other accounting tasks.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting or related field.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of accounting principles, including cost accounting.
  • 2+ years' cost accounting work experience. Inventory accounting experience is highly preferred.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with superb organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills that allow effective working relationships.
  • Focused on integrity, respecting others, and being part of a team.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams either autonomously or in a consultative role.
  • Inquisitive and takes an active interest in opportunities to improve the efficiency of work.
  • Advance PC skills including mid-size ERP systems and the Microsoft Suite of products.
