Macro Trading comprises the Corporate & Investment Bank's Currencies & Emerging Markets, Rates, FX Services, Macro E-Commerce and Commodities businesses, with a collective presence in 23 countries. This role focuses mainly on the Global Rates and Currencies & Emerging Markets (CEM) businesses with a cross-over with other Macro Trading businesses. The Global Rates business spans a wide product set, including linear derivatives and cash securities all the way through to Interest Rate (IR) exotics and insurance derivatives and are represented in New York, London, Tokyo, and Sydney. The Currencies and Emerging Markets (CEM) business is a multi assets, fast moving growth business with significant positive Shareholder Value Add (SVA) contribution. Emerging Markets offer a large variety of products within the fixed income asset class and are represented in London, New York, Hong Kong, Singapore and multiple other locations (e.g., Brazil, Mexico, Russia, Turkey, India, etc).

The external reporting function handles the oversight of the financial statements and management reporting by ensuring a sound control environment. In this role, you will apply the accounting treatments and ensure compliance with appropriate corporate and regulatory requirements, coordinate the preparation of quarterly regulatory requirements, as well as validate balance sheet items, usage and reporting. You'll also be responsible for monitoring balance sheet, Risk Weighed Assets (RWA), & Capital and advising the business on deal specific accounting and/or RWA usage. The candidate will be reporting to the External Reporting Head of CEM and Rates with exposure to multiple areas of the Macro Trading businesses.

Job responsibilities
  • Participate in, and oversee, various aspects of the production and review of monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reports filed with various regulatory agencies
  • Consolidate, review, and analyze quarterly financial data for accuracy and completeness
  • Working with the business / Front Office to ensure they fully understand developments in Regulatory framework and priorities, i.e. changes to the Capital framework, the impact of Risk Weighted Assets, revenue recognition on structured deals, Global Systematically Important Bank (GSIB) impacts, leverage ratios, etc.
  • Provide guidance on accounting for products, liaising with Accounting Policy group where appropriate and ensuring compliance with Corporate Regulatory requirements
  • Provides analytic support to Front Office for optimizing balance sheet and capital usage across Rates/CEM
  • Monitoring of the Line of Business (LOBs) Balance Sheet from a net funding, Basel 3 liquidity ratios, GSIB, and leverage ratios perspective
  • Enhance RWA reporting to provide greater transparency to the business
  • Develop and implement various control procedures and edit checks to ensure the integrity of reported financial results
  • Perform quarter-over-quarter variance consolidation and review
  • Maintain familiarity of accounting pronouncements and disclosure requirements
  • Participate on firm wide teams to implement new accounting disclosures
  • Lead execution of key projects regarding specialty areas.
  • Help identify gaps in current reporting process and participate in the implementation of new controls and strategic solutions
  • Represent the team and lead efforts around strategic initiatives, ongoing Uniform Charts of Accounts efforts and ongoing improvements around our internal/external reporting processes
  • Establish and manage relationships with the line of business and Corporate Financial Reporting teams
  • Oversee migration of report preparation into team and reengineering of the reporting process
  • Oversee release related testing and implementation work

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • 6+ years in a Finance organization with exposure to accounting, financial statements, regulatory reporting and financial products
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end reporting and control processes
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, communication and influencing skills
  • Ability to summarize complex information and deliver it at business executive level
  • Self-motivated and willing to take initiative; ability to thrive in a changing work environment

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Experience in Product Control, Financial Control and/or knowledge of Reg Reporting is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred, CPA a plus
