Job Summary

Student Engagement is a department within the Division of Student Affairs consisting of the following areas: Student Organization Development & Administration (SODA), Student Organization Finance Center (SOFC), and Student Sustainability. The Coordinator of Student Engagement is a member of the Student Organization Development & Administration team and has primary responsibilities for coordinating the administration of student organization registrations, Maker Station program, student organization scholarships, student org donor relations, and providing critical support to more than nine hundred (900) student organizations.

Major Duties/Responsibilities


Student Org Administration


  • Serve as the leader in coordinating student organization annual registration along with new and re-activating student organization registrations. In addition, the Coordinator will coordinate student organization scholarships managed by Student Engagement and coordinate donor relations.
  • Coordinate student organization registration, including an independent objective review of each submission to ensure adherence to department and university policies and procedures and applicable local, state, and federal laws. Reviews will also apply best practices to enhance student organization administration.
  • Coordinate the student organization web-based application on behalf of the department, including but not limited to managing access, troubleshooting issues, and processing annual contract payments.
  • Coordinate the annual Involvement Fair for student organizations.
  • Coordinate Student Org Scholarships, including but not limited to updating applications, developing and managing process timelines, recruiting and serving as the chairperson to review committees, communicating with Student Affairs Advancement and donors, and communicating with the Student Org Finance Center on award allocations.
  • Manage student organization donor relations, including but not limited to working with student org members to thank donors in coordination with Student Affairs Advancement.
  • Coordinate student organization verifications, including but not limited to member absence verifications, status verifications, and academic verifications.
  • Coordinate involvement transcripts within the designated student organization management system.
  • Assist with the implementation and coordination of university-wide student organization engagement initiatives, i.e., Quad Day


Student Org Development

  • Assist with facilitating required educational orientations and workshops for student organizations.
  • Work with student organization officers through consultative relationships to assist student leaders in developing budgets and planning the successful execution of events and programs.
  • Coordinate the Maker Station program and its components, including but not limited to scheduling, program and project development, supply inventory, assessment, and promotion.
  • Coordinate annual student organization recognition program of accomplishments within a set period (i.e., student org of the year, student org president of the year), including but not limited to developing award criteria, developing and processing applications, coordinating the selection of recipients, and ordering plaques.
  • Serve as an advisor to a student council or committee, as needed.


Student Engagement Administration

  • Perform other duties as assigned (including service on campus committees) to advance the unit, department, and division.

Qualifications

Education

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree


Experience

Required


  • Minimum one (1) year (graduate or full-time) of experience working with student organizations.


Preferred


  • Ability to interpret policy, exercise keen judgment, and adapt to changing conditions successfully.
  • Ability to provide excellent communication and build solid relationships with campus partners.
  • Ability to manage multiple and complex priorities within a fast-paced environment where interruptions may be frequent.
  • Knowledge of student organization/engagement management software


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people and understanding of issues of diversity and inclusion.
  • Ability to provide programmatic oversight and leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and assess new and existing programs and services.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to prepare and deliver presentations and external publications.
  • Strong organizational and problem-analysis skills.

Appointment Information

This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5002 - Program Coordinator position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 5/15/2023. Salary range for this position is $50,000 - $52,000.
