Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking a Project Controls Specialist with a solid background in project controls functions. The Project Controls Specialist is a key point of contact for numerous internal and external stakeholders. You will be responsible for all aspects of the position as outlined below.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Providing budget, contract, and financial management support to project managers
• Understanding contract terms and assisting project managers with maintaining the life cycle of projects per client requirements and company guidelines
• Coordinating with project accounting staff to ensure invoices are submitted per established timelines and contractual requirements
• Providing support to diverse groups at all levels of management
• Auditing project management reports for financial impacts and provisions for gross profit optimization
• Assisting project managers with monthly forecasts and financial estimates
• Supporting project managers with project/program enterprise structures, i.e.: work breakdown structures, and cost breakdown structures as part of project budgeting and setup
• Performing and managing all budget and cost control functions
• Preparing month-end reports, variance reports, and ad hoc reports as required
• Performing analytics and interpreting project/program data for continuous improvement
• Preparing financial reconciliations as required
• Training, managing, or mentoring others
• Administrating the use of project management information systems in the areas such as budget/cost control, document control, reporting

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Experience in cost controls including budgeting, forecasting, and earned value management
• Understanding of contract terms
• Working knowledge of project accounting methods and requirements
• Understanding of principles and methods related to earned value management
• Experience in working with and providing support to diverse groups at all levels of management
• Proficient user of MS Project and SQL /SharePoint applications is a plus
• Master user of Microsoft Office Suite (specifically desired: expertise in MS Excel)
• Detail-oriented, organized, and proven time management skills
• Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
• Ability to see the "big picture" and use common sense to make decisions
• Ability and desire to build trusting, long-term relationships with stakeholders
• Understanding of project accounting methods and requirements
• Coordinate internal and external business processes to meet the requirements of both

Education and Experience

BS degree or relevant technical college program

Experience working in a consulting or project management environment is strongly preferred

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
