The Therapeutic Community Behavioral Healthcare Provider Supervisor 1 may be a great fit for you!

The Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS) provides statewide leadership of a high-quality mental health and addiction prevention, treatment and recovery system that is effective and valued by Ohioans. The Bureau of Correctional Recovery Services works with offenders in Ohio’s prisons to instill an improved sense of responsibility and the ability to become law-abiding citizens. Recovery Services Therapeutic Community Behavioral Healthcare Provider Supervisors use evidence-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in the treatment of offenders in prison who are in need of substance abuse recovery programming.

Duties of the Therapeutic Community Behavioral Healthcare Provider Supervisor include, but are not limited to:

Manages day-to-day operation of the institution therapeutic community (TC): implements policies & procedures for the program; coordinates & participates in quality assurance activities; participates in personnel management tasks including recruitment, interviewing, training & recommendations for hire; directs & manages treatment activities of the therapeutic community program; monitors & records program attendance; maintains necessary data documents required by OhioMHAS & Ohio Department of Rehabilitation & Corrections (ODRC); directly supervise staff as assigned (e.g., scheduling of programming, approval of time and request for leave, employee counseling, performance reviews and discipline as needed); participate in CQI activities, reviews and provides consultation on difficult cases, transfers of individuals incarcerated in ODRC that would ensure appropriate clinical services are provided per OhioMHAS & ODRC policies/procedures; respond to written and telephone inquiries as needed;

Provides substance use disorder treatment services to inmates in the program (e.g., treatment planning, treatment recommendation, progress notes, individual & group counseling);

Serves as institution representative on statewide committees for substance use disorder related issues.

Qualifications
Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor (LICDC) by Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board.

  • Or Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) by Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy Board.


  • Or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) by Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy Board.


  • or Licensed Independent Marriage and Family Therapist (IMFT) by the Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy Board.


  • Or Licensed Registered Nurse with certificate of authority as a Clinical Nurse Specialist or Certified Nurse Practitioner with specialty certification in Mental Health or Psychiatry as issued by Ohio Board of Nursing .


  • And in addition to licensure must have 12 mos. exp. providing clinical supervision in behavioral healthcare services (e.g., counseling, group services, crisis intervention).


  • Or 12 mos. exp. as Behavioral Healthcare Provider 2, 65832.


  • Or 12 mos. exp. as Correctional Program Coordinator, 69323.

Ability to recognize unusual or threatening conditions and take appropriate action; deal with problems involving several variables in familiar context; understand practical field of study; define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; deal with many variables and determine specific action; recognize safety warnings; prepare meaningful, concise and accurate reports; gather, collect and classify information about data, people or things; handle sensitive inquiries from and contacts with officials and general public; develop good rapport with inmates and/or patients.
