The Division of Hematology & Medical Oncology in the Department of Medicine, and the UT Health San Antonio MD Anderson Cancer Center at the Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine are seeking to hire a Chief Medical Officer. The CMO will have oversight of quality and safety of all clinical operations, strategic growth of clinical activities of the Cancer Center locally and regionally, and professional workforce management ensuring that the Center has the right providers in the right locations. In addition, the CMO will oversee the clinical operations of the hematology/oncology practice, leading innovation and strategic direction. The CMO will be a skilled faculty physician and/or physician-investigator, with a strong track record of collaboration and patient-focused care. They must be a respected leader who is operationally savvy with an innovative vision. The CMO will be a clinically active physician in the field of medical oncology. Leading the medical oncology clinical practice, the CMO will strategically collaborate on multiple levels and with an eye towards interprofessional excellence. An emphasis on patient experience, as well as quality and safety, are significant focus areas for the new CMO. Despite rapid growth, the CMO will need to ensure that the mission to decrease the burden of cancer in the San Antonio and South Texas region remains patient focused. There is also a strong focus on strategic planning around increasing patient volumes. Strategically recruiting, retaining, and developing multidisciplinary teams will also be a top priority.

We expect that this individual will hold an academic appointment in the Department of Medicine. She/he will report to the Chief of Hematology & Medical Oncology and will be expected to have administrative and clinical responsibilities at the Mays Cancer Center. This is a non-tenure track position, but is open rank. Rank will be decided on education and skills related to the position. UT Health San Antonio offers competitive salaries with excellent benefits.
