The Position: We are looking for a ISFC Clinician, focuses on the provision of intensive mental health treatment services to referred and assigned clients and their families within McKinley’s foster care program. These individuals are experiencing behavioral and/or mental health issues in the school, home, and community settings and currently live in out of home care. The clinician provides direct services, serves as a clinical advocate for clients (and their families) and makes recommendations for mental health support services needed, while actively working collaboratively with foster care workers, resource parents, family supports, and county social workers.

Compensation and Benefits:

The pay range we’re offering is $69,641 - $77,301 annually depending (Based) on experience.

Qualifications:


  • Valid registration or licensed with the Board of Behavioral Sciences (ACSW, AMFT, LCSW, LMFT, APCC, LPCC)
  • Prior mental health service experience strongly preferred
  • Prior Los Angeles County and/or Riverside County mental health experience preferred
  • Word Processing; Excellent Writing Skills, General Office Skills; Typing of 50 WPM
  • Bi-Lingual (Spanish) required
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical exam, TB and drug screening
  • Ability to commute to various sites on campus
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel and lift 10 pounds

Key Responsibilities:

  • Initiate and conduct individual, couples, family, and group counseling/psychotherapy sessions;
  • Provide crisis intervention to mentally ill/emotionally disabled individuals, groups, and families
  • Assist clients and family members to understand behavioral health problems and their reaction to them, guide clients in understanding their illness and contributing personal, social, and economic factors;
  • Assist clients in developing realistic plans; work toward the solution of stresses and barriers interfering with treatment and/or social functioning; identify and focus on client strengths and personal resources to effectively move client toward satisfactory adjustments; and advise clients on community resources.
  • Maintain records of all activities relating to clients’ care
  • Attend and participate in meetings, interdisciplinary team treatment planning, staff training functions, utilization and peer review activities, clinical supervision and case consultation, and public information and educational functions.
  • Participate as a member of a multidisciplinary clinical team and interpret the psychosocial aspects of the patient’s illness to the team for use in diagnosis and designing appropriate treatment plan.
  • Maintain and disseminate medical records and reports in compliance with local, county, federal, State, and Center regulations including Health Insurance Portability
  • Maintain direct services productivity level according to policy.
  • Work effectively with adults on a wide variety of diagnoses, low economic status, and diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Apply and interpret the principles and techniques of marriage and family therapy or clinical social work and integrated behavioral healthcare methods.
  • Analyze client behavior and apply treatment techniques in a coordinated care, social rehabilitation, recovery model focused environment.
  • Communicate effectively and interact with clients, staff, agencies, and community representatives in situations requiring instruction, persuading, consulting, counseling, and motivating people; and prepare and present clear and concise verbal and written reports.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with clients, their families, other Agency staff members and the behavioral health community.
  • Understand, explain, and apply laws, regulations, policies and procedures
  • Handle confidential matters with discretion.
  • Meet regularly with an interdisciplinary team to discuss treatment objectives
  • Provide crisis intervention
  • Remain on call for clinical emergencies
  • Regularly take responsibility for the agency’s clinical on-call phone over the weekends.
  • Participate in chart reviews and other QA functions
  • Maintain all required documentation on a timely basis and in accordance with contractual and regulatory standards.
  • Attend all required supervision, department and agency meetings.
  • Take responsibility for on-going development of professional skills.
  • Attend all required agency training
  • Participate in the agency’s Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) plan as assigned.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
