The Department of Educational Foundations and Leadership in Duquesne University's School of Education is seeking to fill a Clinical Assistant Professor position. The non-tenure-track, nine-month appointment will begin on August 7, 2023. Salary and benefits will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Within the School of Education, the Department of Educational Foundations and Leadership offers courses that are integral not only to pedagogy of assessment, education psychology, evaluation, research design, principles of behavior, and educational leadership but also to disciplines across K-12 general and special education classrooms, ABA-based agencies, educational foundations, and higher education institutions. In addition to providing foundational courses in the School’s undergraduate teacher education programs, our department also houses master’s programs in administration and supervision, special education, and higher education administration; a doctoral program in Educational Leadership; and the UCEA Center for Educational Leadership and Social Justice.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Clinical Assistant Professor will teach courses across the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels; participate in service to the department, school, and university; work collaboratively with an interdepartmental working group on teacher education course and curriculum development; and bring expertise and experiences that complement those of the existing team of faculty in the department.

We seek a candidate that can demonstrate excellence in teaching foundational courses at the undergraduate level including such areas as educational psychology, ethics, classroom assessment, and/or social justice; as well as the ability to also teach relevant courses at the master’s and doctoral levels as needed.

As a condition of employment, Duquesne University requires all new employees —full-time and part-time, including adjunct faculty—to get a COVID-19 vaccine and provide proof of their vaccination upon commencement of employment.

Qualifications

An Earned Doctorate from an accredited institution is preferred.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a K-12 classroom and/or a teacher certification.

A candidate that has experiences with face-to-face and online formats, directing and serving on doctoral dissertation committees, and building collaborative and collegial relations is strongly preferred.

Candidates with interest and expertise in becoming involved in the School’s equity and community-based initiatives and strengthening networks with regional and national educational organizations .
