ABOUT THE POSITION

As part of the Environmental Sustainability team within Corporate Responsibility, the Climate Strategy Manager will play a key role in shaping CSC’s path to decarbonization. In this role you will serve as a Columbia Sportswear Company (CSC) functional expert on climate and will play an integral role in guiding strategy that enables CSC and its portfolio of brands to achieve climate target and reduction strategies.

Reporting to the Director, Global Environmental Sustainability, you will have a clear vision for how to progress the organizations’ decarbonization pathways and will collaborate with leadership and functional experts across the organization to move this vision forward. In addition to deep climate expertise and proficiency of CSC’s Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions sources, you will need strong presentation skills, financial acumen, cross-functional leadership, and ability to collaborate globally across the organization as well as with industry peers.

HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Lead a portfolio of cross-functional climate projects across materials, manufacturing, owned facilities, and other corporate functions to enable progress towards company decarbonization strategy

  • Drive analysis and solution development for key climate challenges to enable new decarbonization and value opportunities across a global and swiftly evolving business environment

  • Empower decision-making and execution of climate initiatives, working alongside executive leaders across the entire company to ensure effective communication, governance and change management

  • Track, monitor and report progress towards decarbonization pathways to leadership and the executive ESG Steering Committee

  • Represent CSC at external engagements and contribute to industry working groups to drive collective action and common standards and tool development

YOU ARE

  • Someone who possesses intellectual curiosity and passion for climate-based solutions

  • An adept cross-functional leader, able to navigate a complex organization to develop consensus and drive results

  • Known for your agility to engage at the senior executive level with the ability to translate abstract concepts into defined objectives

  • Flexible in approach and entrepreneurial in mindset; a “builder,” comfortable with bringing clarity to ambiguous situations

  • Someone with strong organizational and communications skills, both verbal and written


YOU HAVE

  • 7+ years progressive experience in a corporate sustainability or in a climate engagement role

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Environmental Studies, Material Science, or relevant field. Master’s degree preferred

  • Advanced knowledge of the GHG Protocol and the carbon measurement methodologies used in the Apparel & Footwear sector such as the Higg Index, and Life Cycle Analysis

  • Working knowledge of the Science Based Targets initiative and experience guiding companies through the process of preparing and meeting Science Based Target obligations

  • Demonstrated experience helping companies meet carbon reduction targets and strategies and good working knowledge of key decarbonization opportunities and pathways for the industry

  • Proven ability to manage complex programs and drive cross-functional teams to meet business objectives and influence co-workers while fostering strong working relationships

  • Experience working in a global business environment


Travel and Schedule Requirements:

  • Ability to travel 10-20% of the time domestically and internationally

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule due to travel including overnights and weekends
