The recently approved Medicaid Expansion has created the opportunity to expand our team. The Department of Social Services, Division of Medical Services is seeking a detail-oriented individual with strong customer service and communication skills to join the team as a Claims Specialist.

The Claims Specialist team works closely with the Business Analyst, the Claims Advice and Processing Unit staff, Program Integrity Staff, Bureau of Information and Telecommunications partners, medical services providers, and Division of Medical Services policy analysts to resolve higher level claims issues, claims payment system issues, implement policy and rate changes, maintain the Medicaid Portal information system and test system changes prior to deployment.

  • experience in customer service, problem resolution, information technology platform navigation or project management is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • knowledge of proper business English including proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation;
  • ability to navigate and understand various information technology platforms;
  • knowledge of website and internet navigation;
  • ability to communicate information clearly and concisely working with a wide assortment of stake holders;
  • ability to comprehend, properly apply, interpret, and explain departmental rules and regulations to others;
  • critical thinking skills;
  • skills to analyze data and pinpoint issues during the process of problem resolution
  • ability effectively plan and organize work activities, adjust to multiple demands, and prioritize tasks to complete assignments and meet deadlines.
  • skills to exercise tact and discretion in dealing with team members, Medicaid recipients, providers, co-workers, and the general public.
