Job description
Washington County Department of Social Services is currently seeking applications for vacant Caseworker* positions.
This is an entry-level professional caseworker position involving responsibility for providing social work services for individuals and/or their families, including children, to assist them with their economic, emotional, social and environmental difficulties.
Some duties of the position:
- Conducting face to face interviews with children and family members in their homes and/or in the community (i.e. schools, incarceration facilities, etc.)
- Liaison with other community agencies that are working with and supporting the families’ needs in the areas of medical and mental health, substance abuse, domestic violence, sexual abuse and other existing conditions.
- Detailed documentation of Casework activities.
- Attendance and participation in Court proceedings as an advocate or witness.
*This is a Civil Service competitive position. If you are appointed to this position, it would be a provisional appointment. As a provisional appointee applicants must take Civil Service exam and be reachable on the resulting eligible list for permanent appointment.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors’ Degree from a regionally accredited or New York State registered four-year college or university.
Special Requirement: Possession of a valid New York State Drivers' License at time of appointment.
Rate of Pay: $25.92/hour (2023 rate)
