The Benefits Manager is responsible for the strategy, design, and administration of our employee benefit programs including health care, disability insurance, life insurance, vision insurance, flexible spending account programs, and wellness program.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential Duties

  • Coordination of all employee benefit offerings, supporting administrative actions related to document processing, reporting, billing, and coordinating with external vendors
  • Serves as primary contact for plan vendors and third-party administrators
  • Conduct verification of monthly premium statements for all group insurance policies, reconciling with employee elections in HRIS
  • Handle benefits processing, enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, and accident and death claims
  • Collaborate with benefit brokers
  • Works with the executive leadership team in presenting new ideas and recommendations for our benefit programs.
  • Oversees implementation of new benefit plans or benefit changes.
  • Ensures our members have a full understanding of our total benefits package. Educates our team on plan provisions so that individuals can make well-informed decisions on benefits.
  • Manages the annual open enrollment process for all benefit programs.
  • Coordinates employee questions and concerns related to benefit programs functioning as a liaison with various insurance carriers.
  • Ensures compliance with ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, ACA, and other applicable regulations impacting our benefit programs.
  • Partners with the Human Resources administrative team on benefits coordination as well as the utilization of the Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
  • Assumes and executes additional responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Thorough understanding of employee benefits and best practices, as well as applicable policies and federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Superb verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proactive and independent with the ability to take initiative.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn HRIS and benefit systems.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education/ Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in employee benefits coordination and administration.
  • Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) or other industry-related designation preferred.
  • Experience with Self-funded group medical plan, highly preferred.
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.

Physical/ Environmental Requirements

  • Must be able to carry and lift items weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • This position will require sitting for long periods of time, walking, standing, bending, and walking, as well as using fine motor skills, such as finger dexterity for typing and using small hand tools.
  • This position requires average to above average visual acuity and hearing.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to read memos, computer screens, personnel forms, and clinical and administrative documents.
