The San Diego Unified School District currently has the following Attendance Assistant position available:
  • Chollas/Mead Elementary

  • 10 months per year, 40 hours per week. Monday - Friday, flexible schedule.
The Attendance Assistant maintains manual and computerized pupil attendance records, assists school staff with pupil attendance problems, and contacts parents, pupils, and district staff.

This is a promotional/open opportunity , which means that current monthly-salaried employees receive precedence over other candidates on the eligible list.
  • For a promotional/open posting, the top ten internal applicants will be provided unless there is an insufficient number and then the list will be supplemented with the top external applicants to make up the ten (Employment Regulations for the Classified Service of the San Diego Unified School District: Article 2, Section 9).
The Attendance Assistant will be paid on the ParaEducator Salary Schedule. Salary Grade: 24. The ParaEducator Salary Schedule can be found by clicking here .

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of training, experience, and/or education equivalent to one (1) year of recent, full-time, paid office-clerical experience.

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Fluency in conversational Spanish or another foreign language may be required for designated positions.

      • Please note that general or occasional Substitute Experience is not included when determining if a candidate has met the minimum qualifications for the position.
      • Individuals working in related, specific, LONG-TERM substitute assignments of substantial hours per week must specify each separate long-term assignment in their work history in order for this experience to POSSIBLY count towards meeting the minimum qualifications.
      • This information must include an approximate start date, end date (where applicable), specific site, job title, hours per week, and job duties performed for each long-term assignment.
  • Answer all supplemental questions
    • The supplemental questions should be answered thoroughly, clearly, and concisely as the responses provided (along with the entire application package) will be carefully reviewed to determine which candidates will move forward in the recruitment process.
  • Attach proof of education
    • Education, training, or certifications will only be considered if acceptable documentation is attached
      • Photocopy of Degree or
      • Photocopy of OFFICIAL transcript
      • Photocopy of Licenses and/or Certifications
    • Foreign Equivalency Certification:

EXAMINATION PROCESS:

Only those candidates whose application demonstrates a combined education and experience which meets the minimum requirements for the position(s) will be considered qualified and advanced in the examination process.

All positions require qualified candidates to pass the examination process which may include one or more of the following components:
  • An application screening and evaluation based on the candidate's education, work history, and responses to the supplemental questions. Please note that not all qualified applicants will advance to subsequent phases of the examination process.
  • A multiple-choice exam specific to the position.**
    • Attendance Assistant - pass point 70%
**Multiple-choice exams will be conducted remotely utilizing an online testing platform. Exam information will be communicated to candidates via email. Access to the internet and the use of a camera-ready desktop/laptop with a microphone are required to participate in these processes.
