The Ceres Accelerator for Sustainable Capital Markets is a center of excellence within Ceres transforming the practices and policies that govern capital markets to reduce the worst financial impacts of the climate crisis. We educate and engage regulators, financial institutions, investors, and other capital market influencers to act on systemic climate-related financial risk. The Accelerator will spur capital market influencers to act on these systemic financial risks and drive the large-scale behavior and systems change needed to achieve a net-zero carbon economy and a just and sustainable future. The current priority initiatives include:
  • Regulating Climate Change as a Systemic Risk
  • Achieving Paris-Aligned Portfolios
  • Financing a Net-Zero Economy
  • Governance for a Sustainable Future

Description & Responsibilities
The Associate role provides support to the Accelerator team and Operations Leader. In this role, the Associate supports annual planning and quarterly reporting, coordinating training needs, onboarding, team culture and meetings, systems management and supporting staff management.

Ceres is looking for a candidate with strong communications and writing experience and superb project management and relationship management skills. This position reports the Accelerator Operations Senior Manager.

This role is a full-time position that may work remotely or in the Boston, MA office or San Francisco, CA office. Candidates must be flexible to work with employees in all US time zones.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Organize and plan weekly Accelerator team meetings, calendar, and events
  • Assist and support annual planning process in partnership with the Innovation and Evaluation team
  • Manage administrative tasks to support finalized team goals and work plans, team budget, and submitting requests for expanded staff capacity
  • Partner with Human Resources to lead administrations of onboarding all team members to the department and provide training resources as needed
  • Support policies and procedures to create and maintain staff culture and team expansion by collecting and organizing team data to prioritize team development and growth
  • Organize quarterly review meetings and assist in creating and coordinating team retreats
  • Perform administrative tasks to support quarterly reporting, board meetings, team training
  • Data entry and maintenance of team tracking and organizational systems (Salesforce, SharePoint, etc.) and provide report to team leadership to identify accomplishment or areas needing support.
  • Attend monthly reconciliation meetings with Finance to take notes and create reports
  • Collaborate and organize regular meetings with supervisors on the team to understand their needs for support and training
  • Utilize and analyze team’s performance management system to identify accomplishments or areas for improvement
  • Work with Team Operations staff on other teams to ensure consistency across the organization and share best practices

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 18 months, professional experience demonstrating strong interpersonal, operational, project management, and relationship management skills, required
  • Knowledge of or experience working on environment, finance, energy, water, and/or sustainability or environmental justice issues, a plus
Effective presentation style as well as strong speaking and written communication skills
  • Planning experience and delivering projects on deadlines and within time and resource budgets
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with ability to facilitate presentations
  • Demonstrated initiative and motivation, and ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong project management skills and ability to prioritize projects with a proven track record of successfully completing projects on time
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with keen attention to detail
  • Sound judgment and high level of integrity and professionalism, with an ability to manage confidential information and maintain discretion, diplomacy, and courtesy in all contacts
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), other database applications, teleconference and webinar systems and standard e-mail computer applications
  • Interest and willingness to be trained on specific Ceres’ applications necessary for success: Salesforce, Bloomberg, and others
  • Desire to work in a not-for-profit, advocacy-focused organization
  • Interest in being part of a diverse workforce and willingness to support Ceres’ Commitment to Inclusion and Equity
  • Willingness to travel as needed

Compensation: The salary range is $52,000 to $54,000 and pairs with competitive benefits.
