PTC Therapeutics seeks an Associate Manager, Biology in South Plainfield, NJ to plan & perform scientific experiments that contribute to PTC’s research & drug discovery activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Primary
duties/responsibilities:

Provide support for high throughput screening, such as design of primary & secondary assays, including ELISA, HTRF, MSD, Luminex & RTqPCR.

Support lead optimization by screening compounds and/or supporting structure activity relationship studies involving biological activity characterization of compounds in cell-based assays in primary & secondary cell line model systems, including anti-viral proliferation assays.

Profile compounds in additional cells/assays, including antibody stability assays. Assist in developing biologically relevant alternatives to pre-clinical animal models.

Conduct mechanism of drug activity studies, including interacting/coordinating studies with CROs.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Minimum level of education and years of relevant work experience.

Master’s degree in Biological Sciences, Biology or Biochemistry and 2 years pharma/industry experience as a Scientist. In lieu of a Master’s degree and 2 years of pharma/industry experience, employer will accept Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, Biology or Biochemistry plus 5 years of pharma/industry experience as a Scientist. Requires 2 years experience with human tissue culture methodologies, including culturing and maintaining cell lines.
