Associate Engineer
Mobility is the goal
performance, cost, reliability, and maintainability problems requiring the use of engineering
methods and established procedures and guidelines as well as provides effective task
management to accomplish specified technical objectives on time and to customer
expectations. The Engineer will lead more junior staff in planning and implementing larger
scale engineering projects with a focus on customer relations and assist Engineering
Management in defining new techniques to improve process flow and eliminate defects.
This role will report directly to the Manager, Mod Applications Engineering and will be located
in Morristown NJ. The Engineer will need to be a highly competent individual who is an
expert in elevator systems and strong customer focus.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Design, modify, or apply components and systems using engineering methods and
- Analyze and solve complex design, application, manufacturing, installation and
- Create unique original designs, which may be patentable, to meet job requirements.
- Plan and lead engineering projects with technical staff – completing on-time and
- Analyze competitive product designs and report findings.
- Implement defect prevention procedures or processes in product design or
- Analyze new technologies for potential application in elevator and escalator products.
- Provide unique product design solutions to complex safety, performance, cost,
creativity, and experience
- Provide effective task and process planning and implementation to accomplish
- Present technical reports and findings to Schindler management, internal customers
- Prepare and conduct technical training for all departments.
- Strong understanding of Elevator Codes ANSI A17.1 and Schindler Group ON’s
- Coordination with Sales, Field Superintendents, project leads (in HQ and field),
within department teams.
- Coordination with higher management levels – Directors, Vice-Presidents in technical
- Strong working knowledge of Cadre, MathCAD and Autocad
- Analyze and solves complex product issues (Root Cause Analysis, SPSP)
- Perform technical document review of ordering information and product
- Ability to manage multiple large projects value > $35MM
- Actively identifies opportunities for improvement in product, process and costs
- Demonstrates a commitment to customer service; serves and satisfies internal and

- Seeks out ways to achieve objectives and improve organizational and individual
- Shares experiences, ideas, goals with enthusiasm and confidently justifies and

Mobility needs you
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Working knowledge of design procedures and project management
- Knowledge of engineering fundamentals and technologies related to elevator systems
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Professional Engineer License (PE) (Plus not a must)
- 2 years Elevator Experience / System knowledge
- 1 year AutoCAD, MathCAD, and Creo/SolidWorks experience
