Overview:

An Avalon Director in Training will be trained to oversee the daily operations of one of our communities.

Responsibilities:

A Director in Training must be on duty inside the Avalon community at least 40 hours per week. This is not a position that can be worked remotely.


This is a position for a person that has a solid work ethic, is a team player, and can take instructions in a positive manner. The purpose of this position is to move the candidate into the position of Assistant Director, Director, or Executive Director of one of our locations as a position becomes available. This is an entry level salaried position that will allow the right candidate to grow and advance in a well-established company that is a leader in the industry. This is a good position for someone that is looking to make a career change into a new field or for a person that is looking to move into upper level management from a departmental management position


This person will be trained on the following areas (but are not limited to):


Resident Care

  • complete Resident Assessments and Plans of Care
  • medication reconciliation
  • physician orders
  • assess each residents’ needs upon admission, prepare and incorporate the activities goals into the residents’ plan of care
  • assist in the coordination of, and participate in, resident orientation and identification of potential changes or concerns within the care plan of each resident
  • provide hands on care, as needed, and create an atmosphere of warmth, comfort, security and joyfulness for the residents
  • interprets and promotes residents’ rights and “Residents’ Bill of Rights”
  • provides quarterly or as needed updates and verification regarding resident’s DNR and all other Advanced Directives forms in order to insure that the current desires of the residents are accurately documented and will be followed in accordance to their wishes
  • Coordinates discharges with staff, residents, families and vendors

Community

  • conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times with the ability to effectively perform conflict intervention and resolution for residents, families, employees and others as needed.
  • provides individual and group support for residents and families at times of adjustment, crisis or particular need
  • orients residents and families to the facility environment and assists in the adjustment of both
  • maintains an open door policy for all residents, their families and others who support their needs

Emergency & Disaster

  • must be on call and available in the event of an emergency or disaster affecting the community.

HR

  • hiring staff
  • managing staff (progressive discipline, warnings, PTO, status changes, annual appraisals etc.)
  • creating weekly schedules
  • ensuring staff comply with continuing education and other regulatory requirements
  • terminating staff
  • prepare staff for inspection surveys, instructing staff on matters of conduct and disclosure, being interviewed by inspectors, immediate corrections of problems noted by surveyors, etc. Reviews and reinforces important standards previously cited

Marketing

  • conducting tours for potential residents and their families
  • requesting positive reviews from family members

Purchasing

  • ordering of incontinence, office and cleaning supplies
  • ordering groceries


Regulatory

  • ensure compliance with life safety code requirements
  • ensure compliance with health requirements


General

  • Resident Care Coordinator must be on duty inside the Avalon community at least 40 hours per week
  • Must be able to meet all physical demands of the job which includes, but is not limited to: seeing, speaking, touching, walking, standing, bending, reaching overhead, crouching/kneeling or crawling, as well as the ability to regularly lift/move up to 50lbs independently and up to 100lbs with assistance.
  • Ability to work well with others and take direction from management, as well as take initiative – willing to go above and beyond to ensure our residents needs are met and they are comfortable in their living environment.
  • Self-motivated to accomplish identified goals with a strong sense of accountability for results.
  • Must remain flexible and have the ability to work weekends as Manager on Duty, when necessary.
  • Must possess a general knowledge of laws and restrictions regarding senior living care, as well as a solid understanding of opportunities and limits of other levels of care within senior living.
Qualifications:

Prerequisites & Requirements:

  • Must demonstrate an interest in working with a senior population.
  • Ability to obtain (at company expense) Certified Assisted Living Manager
  • Current valid driver license
  • Pass drug screen
  • Experience – Must have at least one of the following:
    • Two or more years experience working in Memory care or assisted living with some supervisory or lead experience
    • Two years experience in Memory Care
    • Two or more years experience in a supervisory or lead role in a position where you were managing staff

  • Must possess at least one of the following:
    • High School diploma or GED
    • bachelor's degree
    • associate's degree in nursing, healthcare management or a related field
    • college hours in some type of management field
