Seeking a dynamic seasoned assistant early childhood educator with ECE units. (minimum of 6) and experience working with children 4 -7 years old. Confidence and capacity to work with children in the natural world is necessary for this position. THIS JOB is outdoors all day. Waldorf or Forest School early childhood teachers training and experience is a plus. A strong understanding of child development, developmentally appropriate practices, mixed aged kindergartens, and Forest kindergartens is a plus. Experience with and capacity for parent communication is necessary.

The ideal candidate has had experience in outdoor early childhood education, loves the natural world and is confident in the wilderness; loves animals; can assist with rest time; has a calm, patient, and confident demeanor; is capable of domestic arts (snack preparation, cleaning, and sense of organization); thrives on arts and crafts and creative experiences with children; and is looking to be part of a conscious community of children and parents.

We are looking for a self motivated and self reflective mature person. Creative problem solver. A person that is able to work collaboratively and take initiative . Someone who is looking forward to learning a tremendous amount about working with young children, and who is eager to engage professional development opportunities.

This job is for someone in excellent physical health who likes to be outdoors and has a professional aspirations for nature based early childhood education.

We are a mixed-age Farm/Forest kindergarten in our 12th year of existence. This is a beautiful, peaceful, and respectful place to work. We are located on a 2 acre regenerative farmlette at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains with trails leading off the property abutting a wildlife interface zone. The farmlette produces seasonal organic bounty that is fed to the children daily and available to the community. Our teaching collective of colleagues is a dedicated and supportive community.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Day shift
• Monday to Friday

COVID-19 considerations:
Our kindergarten is located all outdoors with ample space for healthy distancing and air dilution. We will not be using interior space at all. We have thorough protocols to help prevent exposure and clear steps to protect the community if there is one.
