Job Overview

The Office of Inclusive Excellence and Community Partnership in the College of Arts and Sciences is accepting applications for a full-time Assistant Director for Inclusive Excellence and Community Partnership. The Assistant Director will be expected to support the direction, management, and supervision of the operations for the Office of Inclusive Excellence and Community Partnership in the College of Arts and Sciences. In addition, define, develop, and execute strategies and ongoing initiatives to promote inclusive excellence priorities for the college, university and community. The successful candidate will be an equity-minded individual that possess a deep understanding of issues around diversity, equity, inclusion, social justice and belonging. The Assistant Director will join a dynamic team committed to advancing equity. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Inclusive Excellence and Community Partnership the Assistant Director will also work closely with the College’s Human Resources Office, which is housed in the Office of Inclusive Excellence and Community Partnership.


The College of Arts & Sciences is one of the largest colleges at the university consisting of 14-departments with more than 400 full-time represented faculty members, over 180 unrepresented staff employees and more than 8,000 students at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Essential Functions

  • Assist with the direction, management and supervision of the operations for the Office of Inclusive Excellence and Community Partnership.
  • Assume management responsibility for a wide range of projects/tasks associated with diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging and social justice.
  • May be responsible for collaborating efforts with administrative and academic units (i.e., Public Relations, Academic Colleges, Foundation, etc.) to enhance business/community partnerships.
  • Assist with preparation of annual unit operating budget recommendations; develop, implement and monitor assigned budgets; prepare contracts, approve and monitor expenditures; limited signature authority for purchases.
  • Serve on various university, division and departmental committees and may represent the office at various state and national associations; may function for the Associate Dean for Inclusive Excellence and Community Partnership in their absence, as required.
  • Manage, design, develop, modify and present programs and trainings.
  • Implement policies and procedures.
  • Act as liaison to internal departments, external entities and community organizations.
  • May prepare and edit reports, disseminate/interpret information, provide advice, write proposals; develop publication material and newsletters; Perform program needs assessment and make recommendations.
  • May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).

Required Education

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Seven (7) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Experience

  • Three (3) years of related experience.
  • Prior work in the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion space.
