As a member of the Academic and Diversity Strategies team in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, the assistant director of Application Review supports the associate director of Application Review by providing direct oversight and management of operational functions for the application review process. Works and reports to the associate director of Application Review to manage projects and processes related to the implementation of undergraduate admission policies. Participates in the leadership, development, planning, and execution of all processes related to Application Review. Maintains a thorough understanding of admissions policies and procedures and student data related to recruitment and admission. Keeps current on policy and procedure updates and changes. Manages the holistic application review process of 70,000+ undergraduate applications annually. Monitors all operational activities to ensure high quality and timely comprehensive holistic application review process.

Supports training implementation, coaching and reviewer development for 60+ staff application reviewers. Provides onboarding and individual coaching to reviewers new to application review. Directly manages the undergraduate honors selection process. Supervises one full-time program coordinator for Application Review and Academic Relations. The program coordinator is responsible for contributing to the work of both the Application Review and Academic Relations areas within the Academic and Diversity Strategies team. The assistant director of application review collaborates with the associate director or academic relations to co-lead, develop, assess and support the work and professional development of the program coordinator. Supervises one seasonal honors application review manager and leads the hiring, training, supervision and coaching of the work of 7+ part-time seasonal honors application reviewers. Continuously analyzes needs and progress of application reviewers and the application review process to ensure continual improvement of performance and practices. Provides strategic oversight to application assignment. Uses demonstrated knowledge and experience to develop and maintain reviewer agreement and application review management reports. Supports the associate director of application review with enrollment management processes and selection for honors program. Manage daily workflows. Reviews applications (domestic, international, transfer, special population) through Undergraduate Admissions' holistic application review process within the framework of established deadlines. Leads the evaluation and assessment of the success of application review.

Serves as primary liaison with the School of Music and Department of Dance specific to the direct management of application review procedures and processes. Responsible for maintaining a thorough and up-to-date understanding of the audition, admissions, and enrollment processes for both and for communicating said information to Undergraduate Admissions. Works with and supports the faculty committee on admissions in the review of appeals for special talent recruited applicants. Serves as Application Reviews primary contact with admissions systems and the application developer team. Coordinates annual review site and database enhancements. Leads efforts in troubleshooting any errors or outages with application review systems. Works to identify and analyze problems. Performs administrative work of a complex nature conveying highly sensitive information while maintaining confidentiality. Supports efforts to increase applications and enrollment of underrepresented minorities, first-generation and low-income students. Reviews, analyzes, and validates data to make recommendations for program enhancements through use of data tools. Develops and maintains strong working relationships with colleges and departments. Develops and updates business process mapping and documentation of Application Review processes. Provides support to access, diversity, and inclusion on/off campus programs and initiatives. Participates as an active member of Undergraduate Admissions through membership on committees, assisting offices during on-campus and off-campus events and other times throughout the year. Occasional travel and work nights and/or weekends. Completes special assignments and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required; Master’s degree preferred.

Required:
5+ years of professional experience at college or university in admissions. Demonstrated success with staff supervision and motivation. Demonstrated ability to collaborate and resolve conflicts. Commitment to diversity and inclusion. Strong project management skills. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Desired:

Experience in undergraduate admissions at a large university. 8-12 years of professional experience at college or university in admissions. Demonstrated knowledge and ability to execute date queries and utilize data to inform successful application reading strategies and outcomes. Considerable experience working and interacting with an admission application review process. High degree of organizational skills and the ability to swiftly and adeptly manage multiple projects and shifting priorities at one time.


The pay range for this job profile is $49,800 - $66,400. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
