Architect – Commercial Platform

Our Architect of Commercial Platform will combine solid technical credentials and experience with a high degree of business acumen for a position within our Commercial Engineering organization. In this role, you will collaborate with technology peers and business partners to build and deploy the foundation for the next generation of enterprise resource planning (ERP) and customer relationship management (CRM) applications and services for Thomson Reuters.

As part of the Commercial Engineering organization, you will be part of a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, energetic, and high performing team at the heart of the Thomson Reuters transformation to developing modernized applications and services. This group is nimble, creative and shapes our technology roadmap. This role will be instrumental to enabling the current and future world of the digital experience at Thomson Reuters. You will be challenged with identifying innovative ideas and proof of concepts to deliver against existing and future needs of our customers. The role will report to the Vice President of Commercial Platform and work across the application and platform engineering teams to ensure a consistent and reliable experience for our customers.

About The Role:

In this opportunity as a Architect, you will:

Design and Deliver:

  • Architectural design and principles for TR’s ERP and CRM systems to provide a secure, cost-efficient, and resilient environment for applications running on the platform.
  • Best practices, services, and patterns to enable applications teams to be as productive as possible.
  • Meet regularly with stakeholders to understand business requirements for implementation into core platform services.
  • Provide guidance in modern DevOps development tools and practices involved with CI/CD, Continuous Testing/Security and Continuous Monitoring/Observability.
  • Design and own the environment strategy for Commercial Engineering.
  • Define a continuous improvement process for the Platform.
  • Propose integration with other tools and vendors whenever possible and define integration best practices.
  • Develop and maintain a stakeholder focused platform roadmap.

Collaborate:

  • Provide architectural directions for the engineering teams including architectural principles, patterns, reference architecture and decisions.
  • Work closely with the applications teams, technology, and security teams to ensure that our architectural vision is aligned with the requirements as well as Thomson Reuters standards and policies.
  • Work closely with the engineering and operations teams and participate in service incident process and management to always look for feedback and areas to improve in our service offerings.
  • Work closely with the 3rd party providers to help influence their roadmap according to our business needs.
  • Partner with teams to engineer automated systems for regression, performance, and load testing.
  • Act with organization leaders to improve release management practices from lower environments through production.
  • Be an evangelist and advocate to push the envelope on what’s possible.

Qualifications:

  • BS/BA degree in Computer Science with a strong academic record with preferential consideration to Master's degree in Computer Science
  • 8+ years of software development experience with 2+ years of relevant cloud experience
  • Hands-on experience with AWS/Azure/GCP/Oracle cloud services including IaaS and PaaS
  • Understanding with ERP and CRM systems such as SAP and Salesforce
  • Knowledge of API management tools, Content Management Systems, Digital Asset Management capabilities like Adobe Experience Manager, Boomi, or Apigee
  • Experience with infrastructure automation, infrastructure as code, application networking/routing, and database automation
  • Preferred TOGAF, SAFe, OPEN-CA, IASA, or other relevant architecture certification
