The Amex Digital Labs team drives innovation at American Express by originating, incubating, and managing products and platforms that are essential to our customers’ digital lives. We are a fast-paced global team that leverages emerging technologies to develop digital payment and financial services products, AI-powered customer service solutions, and engaging membership experiences. Reporting to the Senior Vice President and Head of Product within Amex Digital Labs, the position of Director Assistant will act as the Chief of Staff for the Amex Digital Labs Product team. The person in this role will lead overall engagement, evolution, and messaging for the product team within the innovation lab. They will be a critical member of the product leadership team, act as an ambassador for the team, and shape key workstreams and product initiatives.


Responsibilities


  • Run investment strategy, optimization, and Labs’ budget management (10-25% of time)
  • Plan and develop agenda and content for monthly product team meetings, speaking engagements, and external interviews
  • Organize product leadership team meetings, annual offsites, and trainings
  • Energize product team through thoughtful dialogue in slack, planning of team building events, collecting feedback on overall team health and sentiment to distill into recommended actions
  • Advance Labs’ diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, coordinating internal team focused on product inclusion within product development, defining conference participation, and embedding accessibility practices into our product development process
  • Synthesize product overviews and performance stories into narratives that can be used across the team for internal and external presentations
  • Facilitate sharing across the team, making connections to accelerate work, highlighting lessons learned, and recognizing achievements
  • Define and run the product onboarding experience for new colleagues
  • Create and carry out a plan to connect Labs’ product team across the organization and into the communities where we are concentrated
  • The individual in this role will partner closely with the Amex Digital Labs DA, VPs and Directors across the Product team, and the broader Enterprise Innovation Partners organization to support critical talent, team, and culture initiatives
  • Opportunity to slot into product work once ramped up and as available

Qualifications


  • 3+ years of Digital Product experience, particularly new product development expertise
  • Strategic, independent enterprise-wide thinker, ideally with global experience and a high degree of cultural awareness
  • Intellectually curious with a love for all things digital
  • Ability to communicate with confidence and composure while effectively influencing partners at all levels and communicating across a diverse set of constituents and countries
  • Strong financial management skills, proficiency with excel, and interest in tracking a large and dynamic team budget
  • Positive relationship building skills across all levels, with proven ability to connect teams
  • Sophisticated written and verbal communication skills, great storytelling through visual mediums including power point when needed
  • Highly organized individual, with extensive project management experience and ability to prioritize and manage multiple high-level and detailed deliverables/needs across a broad range of teams
  • Effective at influencing and leading, sometimes without direct authority
  • Impeccable integrity required for handling confidential information

Salary Range: $148,000.00 to $245,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits
