St. Simons By-The-Sea Hospital is seeking a 7p-7a Mental Health Technician for Admissions, who supports the purpose and procedures of the entire intake and admission process. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following tasks: maintaining daily census records, entering all intake and admission data into a hospital computer database, handling intake calls, verifying insurance benefits, completing insurance pre-certifications, establishing and maintaining positive relationships with referral sources, documenting inquiry calls, and maintaining phone, assessment and EMTALA logs. Responsible for maintaining positive relationships with staff from other departments.

Other responsibilities, but not limited to, are:
  • Ensures written and computer entries of intake calls, assessments and admissions are accurate and thorough.
  • Monitors and evaluates intake/admission information that pertains to insurance benefit verification and pre-certifications.
  • Obtains and disseminates pertinent clinical information related to potential patients to appropriate staff/disciplines to determine whether patients are appropriate for admission
  • Scan patients / guests for metal upon arrival to assessment area, lock away belongings, and initiate patient monitoring. Continuously monitor patients and document every 15 minutes while in assessment area.
  • Documents all patients presenting for assessment on the Daily Assessment log and the St. Simons by-The-Sea Hospital’s EMTALA Log.
  • Completes insurance pre-certifications in a timely and accurate manner in order to ensure the patient gets the treatment they need while minimizing their out-of-pocket liabilities.

Qualifications:
Job Requirements:
High School diploma or GED preferred
1+ year experience in behavioral health, preferred
Must be able to familiar with computer programs and data input
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must be able to successfully perform in a fast-paced work environment
