Fincantieri Marine Group currently has an opportunity for an Accounting Manager position at the Green Bay, Wisconsin location.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Fincantieri Marine Group (FMG) Accounting Manager is responsible for the supervision of the primary accounting processes and the accurate and timely reporting of the Group general ledger financial reporting system. The Accounting Manager will lead the monthly close process, in order to produce accurate and timely reporting to the organization and the Parent Corporate (Fincantieri SpA) finance department. The Accounting Manager also provides support for various financial forecasts and other finance initiatives and projects as required. This individual must possess a strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS) and financial control concepts in order to ensure compliance with accounting standards to ensure integrity of financial information is maintained. The ideal candidate will have experience implementing and up holding processes and internal controls in order to ensure accurate financial reporting.

The position will be a member of the FMG team; however, it is expected that this position will work closely with the Business Unit's accounting and finance teams, including:

  • Fincnatieri Marinette Marine
  • Fincantieri Bayship Building
  • Fincantieri Ace Marine
  • Fincantieri Marine Systems North America Group
  • Fincantieri Services USA

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

The primary responsibility of the Accounting Manager is to manage the general ledger accounting activities for period closing, reporting, budgeting and forecasting to ensure accurate, timely and consistent application of accounting policies and procedures. Other responsibilities of the Accounting Managers include:

  • Supervise the activities of the accounting staff, maintain period closing activities timeline, and coordinate closing activities, in order to ensure accurate and timely processing and reporting of financial information
  • Gain an understanding of operational and financial processes in order to assist with the development and maintenance of sound accounting practices and internal control procedures. This individual is expected to aid in the identification of areas of inconsistency in accounting practices across the Group and to develop suggestions for improvements to management
  • Assist with the coordination of the half-year and year-end financial audit activities with external auditors and the annual Parent Company financial controls audit
  • Provide direction and leadership to accounting staff, both on an informal or formal reporting basis.
  • Manage the accounts payable functions including but not limited to reviewing and authorizing credit applications, providing support to the Purchasing Department, supplier account reconciliations, and review of outstanding liabilities
  • Supervise the fixed asset accounting process, includes capitalization of assets, reconciliation, and maintenance of the asset subledger.
  • Supervise the FMG procurement card accounts payable process
  • Supervise the FMG expense claims accounts payable process
  • Support the Finance Director and the CFO with the preparation of the thirteen week cash flow forecast and will help investigate variances
  • Review and maintain balance sheet accruals and reserves on a monthly basis to ensure balances are appropriate.
  • Maintain balance sheet integrity through the review of monthly balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Perform monthly fluctuation analysis and financial reporting necessary to provide information required by top management and Parent Company

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required
  • CPA, preferred
  • At least 6+ years of experience in financial accounting and general ledger activities in a manufacturing/construction environment. Public accounting experience preferred. Accounting for government contractor a plus
  • Knowledge of financial reporting, financial controls, and forecasting
  • Expertise in MS Excel (creating spreadsheets and using advanced formulas) and experience with financial systems (preferably one or more of the following: SAP, BAAN, Epicor, Sage)
  • Proven management and team building experience required

  • Knowledge of financial processes and procedures
  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS) and internal control requirements
