Position Highlights

Financial Services is seeking a highly qualified and disciplined individual to join Financial Management. The successful candidate will perform a broad scope of accounting assignments including initiating, reviewing, monitoring, reconciling, and approving financial transactions while exhibiting professional and competent knowledge of accounting principles and practices, spreadsheets, and databases. They will be required to exercise discretion and creativity on assignments of a varied and diverse nature, embrace Financial Services values, and demonstrate a willingness to apply these values in their work and their interactions with others.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Interprets accounting data, analyzes reports, and recommends action to be taken.
  • Provides solutions to problems presented by University departments and recommends changes to accounting methods or procedures, utilizing knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Participates in monthly and quarterly transaction and balance reviews, including contacting departments for explanations, arranging for corrective action, and documenting results.
  • Monitors compliance and generally accepted accounting principles, State regulations, and University policies.
  • Assists in the preparation, review, and analysis of various financial entries, reports, and reconciliations, including annual audit entries and work papers, quarterly financial statements, and monthly reports.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related area with accounting course work AND one year of professional accounting experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with University of Arizona systems such as UAccess Financials and UAccess Analytics.
  • Experience with spreadsheet and database applications such as MS Excel and MS Access.
  • Experience in fund accounting in higher education or other governmental organizations.
