Job description

This position performs detailed accounting, budgetary and personnel/payroll record support work of moderate difficulty. Work may include supervising and participating in the work of a small unit of employees engaged in collecting and recording financial data and related information. Work involves data entry, creation of documents, and the application of limited programming necessary to retrieve required data. An employee in this class may assist a professional or administrative supervisor with more complex clerical fiscal functions.

Salary: $17.16 - $26.23 Hourly

To Qualify

Minimum Qualifications. Applicants must:

  • Have a valid high school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Have successfully completed some college level courses in bookkeeping, accounting, business or a related field.
  • Be able to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
  • Be able to successfully meet and converse with the public and use proper telephone etiquette.
  • Be able to accurately perform detail work involving written or numeric data and to make mathematical calculations rapidly and accurately.
  • Acknowledge this position is designated as Emergency Critical (EC) and if hired into the position, you must be immediately available to the department before, during, and after a declared emergency and/or disaster.

Desirable Qualifications. Preferred applicants:

  • Have at least one year of responsible experience performing accounting and related work.
  • Have skill in the operation of calculators, computers and Oracle eBusiness, Kronos, Microsoft Excel and Word software applications.
  • Have considerable knowledge of accounting principles, accounts receivable practices and procedures, purchasing procedures, budgetary principles, and personnel/payroll policies and procedures.
  • Are able to competently apply accounting principles to the maintenance of accounting records.
