Job description
Sinai Health System is currently the largest provider of mental health services for west Chicago communities. For over 25 years, Sinai has offered outpatient therapy for children between ages 3-18 and their families through it’s Under the Rainbow (UTR) program, a community mental health center housed in Mount Sinai Hospital. Under the Rainbow works to prevent, reduce, and facilitate the recovery from childhood trauma. More than 85 percent of participating children have experienced life altering traumatic events or have been exposed to complex trauma resulting in mental health, behavioral, or school problems. Therapeutic services are individualized and geared to promote the full well-being of children and adolescents including the development and utilization of natural, family, and community supports. These services promote resilience and emotional recovery. As a part of the resiliency and recovery process, UTR attempts to understand children in their cultural, familial, and community contexts, and support families’ functioning in these various contexts. Services are provided in variety of modalities including individual, group, and family therapy, all utilizing a Trauma-Informed lens and evidence based practices. Under The Rainbow provides services in Spanish and English, and utilizes a combination of in-person and telehealth services at this time. UTR is a multidisciplinary team of clinicians that includes psychologists, social workers, crisis workers, counselors, doctoral externs, and master’s interns. Under The Rainbow accepts most insurance carriers; however 90% of the families served have Medicaid. Although UTR provides services to a wide range of clinical presentations and levels of need, youth and families often present with a moderate level of acuity and complex needs. UTR clinicians work closely with our Mobile Crisis Response team, who assist with assessment and placement for inpatient hospitalizations. Risk assessments are completed regularly, and often require the involvement of external systems such as DCFS, legal, school, and parent/guardians. Under the new Reimagine Public Safety legislation, the Illinois Department of Human Service's (IDHS) Office of Firearm Violence Prevention (OFVP) is implementing the Reimagine - High Risk Youth Intervention Services (HRYIS) program to serve high-risk youth in identified Chicago communities with highly concentrated firearm violence. UTR will be one of 4 providers in the Chicago area who will be providing mental health services to youth who are referred from a Reimagine Youth Development program. The HRYIS Psychotherapist will provide direct therapy and case management services to high risk youth who are referred from Violence Prevention and Youth Development programs associated with the grant. They will also form and maintain relationships with community organizations and referral sources. All psychotherapists receive regular supervision tailored to their developmental level and licensure requirements, and are encouraged to take advantage of the collaborative and collegial culture of the clinic.

This position requires a Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Clinical Psychology.
